About the role
Working as part of the Emergency and Complex Acute Medicine physiotherapy team at Maroondah Hospital, you will primarily provide services across the general medicine wards, including an embedded neurology unit caring for patients with presentations such as stroke, functional neurological disorders, and other neurological conditions. You will also work within the Emergency Department as a Secondary Contact Physiotherapist and with opportunities to broaden your experience by supporting patients and colleagues in the Acute Accelerated Medical Unit (AAMU) and Acute Care of Older Persons (ACOP) wards.
You will receive ongoing clinical supervision and mentorship from the Senior Physiotherapist for Emergency and Complex Acute Medicine, ensuring strong support for your professional growth. The position offers excellent opportunities for professional development, education, and skill enhancement across the Aged and Complex Care Clinical stream and beyond.
In addition, you may have opportunities to provide supervision and support to Grade 1 Physiotherapists, students, and Allied Health Assistants (AHAs), while contributing to quality improvement initiatives. These activities are supported by the Aged and Complex Care Clinical Leadership Team, fostering both clinical excellence and leadership development.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
Current registration with Physiotherapy Board of Australia (AHPRA).
Demonstrated skills in the physiotherapy management of complex acute medicine caseload.
Demonstrated experience in the physiotherapy management of acute neurological disorders including stroke and Functional Neurological Disorders (desirable).
Demonstrated experience in working in emergency department as secondary contact (desirable).
Demonstrated capacity to work and show leadership in a multidisciplinary team.
Experience in supervision of students and staff.
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
