Your key responsibilities:
Independently or under broad direction, conduct complex statistical analyses and translate findings into information that the Department, public health practitioners, policy makers, other clinicians and the public can understand and use.
Provide expert, specialist advice on the appropriate and accurate use of health data, including data extraction and manipulation data, data interrogation, statistical analysis and graphic/tabular display of statistical results.
Apply expert statistical knowledge to develop practical operational procedures for complex analytical workflows to support the unit's statistical functions and for quality assurance purposes.
Role fit
The requirements for this role are:
Statistical analysis: Independently or under broad direction, undertake high-level statistical analyses (e.g. using R, R Markdown/Quarto, GIT, data visualisations) to interrogate, manipulate, analyse and summarise complex health datasets for specific research or investigations.
Communicating results: Demonstrated proficiency preparing and presenting complex statistical results, written advice and corporate communications to diverse audiences including executives, internal and external stakeholders, and the general public using advanced data visualisation and contemporary electronic and written mediums.
Expert advice and problem solving: Provide expert statistical advice on using health data appropriately and accurately, proven problem-solving ability to achieve objectives in defined timeframes, and project management proficiency.
Quality assurance: Maintain accuracy and consistency across outputs by developing, managing and maintaining modern coding practices and data ETL and analytical pipelines in a complex operational environment.
