Role Description:
We have an exciting multiple opportunities for a Welding Supervisors within our Maritime Sustainment team in Osborne, SA for afternoon and night shifts.
In this role, you will be responsible to supervise Welding activities in the allocated workshop and ensure the Integrated Work Team schedule and trade performance norms by product requirements are being met. In addition, you will work with Trade management, Welding Engineering team and Dimension Control (DC) to manufacture the Hunter Class Frigate ship in line with the welding and DC strategies.
Based at Osborne Shipyard, this is a permanent full-time salaried role offering a 9-day fortnight. Note, due to the nature of the role, full-time on-site attendance and shift work is a requirement.
Core Duties:
- Supervise Welding tradespeople and welding operators to ensure performance, Quality and Technical standards are maintained across the group
- Follow welding plans, manuals, drawings, sketches, matrixes, control processes and non-destructive testing plans for assigned activities
- Ensure compliance with welding procedures which guide production and welding personnel to ensure compliance with engineering design, stress analysis and equipment specifications
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis of defective welds, review records and reports, develop weld repair strategies and engage with the Welding Technical Authority for the approval
- Manage and maintain work orders in accordance with company requirements and procedures
- Ensure compliance with the Safety Health and Environment (SHE) Management System, mitigating risks and improving overall SHE performance
About You
- Qualified through International Institute of Welding as an International Welding Specialist (IWS) or hold welding supervisor's certification to either AS 1796 or AS 2214
- Qualified through International Institute of Welding as an International Welding inspector (IWI-B or IWI-S) or hold welding inspection certification to another regulatory body (eg CSWIP)
- Experience in the use of automated, mechanised, orbital and robotic welding equipment would be highly regarded
- Experience in the supervision of large complex engineering and construction products related to materials, fabrication, welding, and inspection and testing
- Demonstrated good communication skills with ability to interact effectively with colleagues within and outside the immediate team
- A strong commitment to safe work practices
