About the role
Provides perioperative nursing care in Instrument and Circulating Nurse roles, supporting Paediatric Surgery and Urology services on a seven-day rotating roster. Delivers safe, high-quality patient care, assists with the clinical management of surgical lists, and supports leadership, staff development, and operational coordination.
Key duties of the role
Provides clinical leadership and oversees the delivery of safe, person-centred nursing care, ensuring quality patient outcomes and effective patient flow.
Supports the Nurse Unit Manager with operational management, workforce coordination, resource allocation, budgeting, and service planning.
Leads and fosters a positive team culture focused on collaboration, customer service, safety, learning, and continuous improvement.
Supports staff development through clinical teaching, mentoring, supervision, and facilitating professional learning opportunities.
Contributes to quality improvement, research, clinical auditing, change management, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
Skills and Experience
Registered Nurse eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, holding or eligible to hold a current practising certificate.
Demonstrated experience in perioperative scrub/scout nursing, delivering safe, high-quality care aligned with National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and teamwork skills, with experience supporting students and less experienced nurses.
Proven ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, and work effectively with minimal supervision in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Sound knowledge of healthcare legislation, professional standards, quality improvement, risk management, work health and safety, and person- and family-centred care principles.
