Hotel IT Senior Technician
Pre-Opening Luxury Hotel
The EQ Hotel - Elizabeth Quay, Perth WA
The EQ Hotel is seeking a hands-on, technically sharp Hotel IT Senior Technician to help bring Perth’s newest luxury hotel online and keep it running once the doors open. This is a rare opportunity to build, commission and operate a full luxury hotel technology stack from day one.
If you live and breathe hotel IT – you know your way around Opera Cloud, you’ve worked with Cisco switches, and you get a genuine kick out of a clean IPTV or PMS interface – we want to hear from you.
Reporting to the IT Manager, the Hotel IT Senior Technician is a senior hands-on role responsible for supporting the hotel’s complete technology environment – from the LAN backbone through to guest-facing systems and back-of-house operational platforms.
During pre-opening, you will be central to the processes of physical rollout, cutover and commissioning of all hotel IT systems, working with professional suppliers, vendors and installation teams. Once operational, you will provide senior-level technical hands on support across all hotel departments, coordinate with vendors and integrators, and drive continuous improvement of systems, processes and user experience.
- Lead the hands-on pre-opening processes of hotel IT systems and hardware.
- Participate with suppliers in the deployment, configuration and maintenance of the hotel’s core operational platforms and integrations across property management, point of sale, guest technology, security and back-of-house systems.
- Operate, maintain and troubleshoot the hotel LAN, Wi-Fi, VLANs, VoIP/PABX and structured cabling environment.
- Provide senior-level technical support to team members across all departments – desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, meeting-room technology, guest devices and hospitality-specific hardware.
- Manage user accounts, access, licensing, IT assets, patching, backups, endpoint security and documentation.
- Coordinate with external vendors, integrators and support partners; own incident triage, escalation and resolution.
- Support onboarding of new team members, including device provisioning, account creation and IT induction.
- Monitor system performance, capacity and availability; proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact guests or operations.
- Uphold IT security, data protection, PCI and compliance standards across all hotel systems.
- Work closely with Operations, F&B, Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering and Security to ensure technology enables a seamless guest experience.
You must have demonstrated, hands-on operational experience with the following hotel platforms (or very close equivalents):
- PMS – Oracle Opera Cloud
- POS – Oracle Simphony Cloud
- IPTV / In-Room Entertainment – interTouch
- Electronic Locking – VingCard Visionline
- Access Control – Gallagher
- CCTV / Video Surveillance – enterprise IP CCTV systems (day-to-day operation, user administration, footage retrieval and first-line support)
- PABX / Telephony – Chyma (or comparable hospitality VoIP/PABX platform)
- Hotel Service Optimisation – Hub OS (HSOS)
- Procurement – FutureLog
- Productivity & Collaboration – Microsoft 365 (Business tenant deployment, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune/Endpoint administration)
- Working familiarity with the broader hotel software ecosystem – e.g. channel managers, revenue management, loyalty, guest messaging, spa/booking, energy management, digital signage – and confidence learning new hotel apps quickly.
- Strong practical knowledge of Cisco LAN infrastructure, specifically Catalyst 9300 series access switching and Catalyst 9500 series core/aggregation switching.
- Confident with VLANs, trunking, PoE, QoS, DHCP, DNS, routing fundamentals, wireless controllers/APs and structured cabling.
- Cisco Certified qualifications (CCNA, CCNP or higher) are VERY highly regarded.
- Experience with firewalls, secure remote access, network monitoring and vendor VPN management.
- Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory / Entra ID, endpoint management and enterprise backup.
- Genuinely hands-on – you are as comfortable in a comms room with a patch panel and label maker as you are behind a keyboard.
- Passionate about technology in general, and specifically about hotel IT systems – you enjoy the mix of hospitality, infrastructure and integration that only a hotel environment offers.
- Methodical, well organised and calm under pressure; able to juggle pre-opening deadlines, live operations and multiple stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solver who can translate technical detail into clear, plain language for non-technical users.
- Service-focused, discreet and professional – comfortable working in a luxury hospitality environment where the guest experience always comes first.
- Flexible with working hours, including after-hours, weekend or on-call support to accommodate operational and project requirements.
- Relevant IT qualification (diploma, degree or equivalent industry experience).
- Cisco certifications (CCNA / CCNP) very highly regarded.
- Microsoft 365 / Azure certifications advantageous.
- Previous senior IT technician / IT supervisor experience in a hotel is essential – applicants without hotel IT experience will not be considered.
- Be part of a luxury hotel pre-opening from day one and help shape the technology environment of Perth’s newest landmark hotel.
- Play a central role in launching and establishing a new hotel brand at Elizabeth Quay.
