Key job responsibilities
Some of the key responsibilities you will undertake are:
- You will be trained in supporting data center infrastructure equipment including racks, servers, hardware components, networking devices and cables, following specific instructions and well-defined Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- You will learn to perform routine operations such as rack installations, server break/fix, hardware component replacements, diagnosing hardware faults, troubleshooting network links and rack decommissioning with guidance and support.
- You will be trained in using Directed Workflow Instructions for hardware replacements and documenting all work in ticket tracking systems.
- You will learn to identify issue severity and work within stated Service Level Agreements (SLA), escalating when work deviates from established processes.
- You will be trained in inventory management tasks including receiving equipment, decommissioning hardware, liquidating racks or hardware components, and performing storage media (HDD, SSD) sanitization and destruction.
- You will learn how to operate in a high security environment, follow information security policies and physical safety practices, ensuring safe, secure work at all times.
- You will be trained in using technical documentation to find solutions and performing routine tasks following clear instructions.
- You will learn to work as part of a team performing similar tasks, collaborating with various AWS stakeholders.
- We are looking for the right person to train and develop. Formal qualifications are helpful but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with IT hardware, networking, or technical support gained through study, work, or hands-on tinkering
- A genuine enthusiasm for technology and a desire to build a career in data center operations or IT infrastructure
- Candidates should be able to perform the physical requirements of this role, which may include handling equipment.
- Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and their own vehicle to travel between sites
- Good attention to detail and the ability to follow documented processes and procedures accurately
- Certificate, Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in IT or relevant discipline
- Any relevant technical qualification such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent or currently working towards one.
- Linux knowledge Networking knowledge
- Passionate about IT infrastructure and hardware
- Previous experience in a customer-facing, operational, or physical technical role
