What you'll do
The Stores & Payments Domain encompasses all activities to support both shoppers and team members in the store, and as such covers the use of technology across Woolworths’ retail trading banners (Supermarkets, BIGW and New Zealand) covering:
Front of store (e.g. Point of Sale, in-store mobile shopping experiences, payments processing in partnership with WPAY);
Back of store (e.g. in-store processes, ticketing); and
Digital (e.g. computer vision and AI) to drive impactful innovation.
Reporting to the Head of Technology - Stores & Payment Architecture, you will be responsible for the following:
Stores & Payments Architecture Strategy: Drive the architectural roadmap across Woolworths’ retail trading banners (Supermarkets, BIG W, New Zealand)—shaping front-of-store, back-of-store, and cutting-edge digital experiences like AI and computer vision.
Complex Solution Delivery & Governance: Lead the design of robust, complex IT solutions that align business requirements with enterprise strategy, while establishing best-practice architecture governance and standards.
Executive Stakeholder & Vendor Engagement: Act as a trusted technology advisor to Business Unit Heads and Technology GMs, providing strategic guidance to shape business decisions and technology investments.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Proactively research and recommend market-leading technologies and industry trends to keep Woolworths at the forefront of retail innovation.
Commercial Estimation & Estimation Strategy: Facilitate high-quality, timely IT estimations and technology roadmaps to guide smart, efficient investment decisions.
Talent Development & Leadership: Coach, mentor, and grow a team of Solution Architects, fostering a culture of continuous learning and architectural excellence.
What you’ll bring
5-10 years experience within the IT Industry/retail services or in technology consulting
5+ years experience across multiple Architecture domains
5+ experience in delivering a major business solutions within a project team
Proven track record in leading, mentoring, and inspiring architecture teams, paired with the executive presence to negotiate with and influence senior business leaders.
Deep understanding of retail/business processes and IT systems, with a track record of designing complex, scalable solutions that align tech with business strategy.
Exceptional analytical skills to quickly diagnose complex issues, mitigate operational risks, and safeguard service quality and cost efficiency.
Strong capability in developing robust business cases, accurate solution estimations, and commercial strategies that drive maximum value on investment.
A high-energy "can-do" mindset with a passion for leveraging emerging technologies (like AI and computer vision) to solve complex business problems in a fast-paced environment.
