We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist - Government and Stakeholders on a 1-year fixed-term contract, based in our Leederville office.

About the role:

As a Specialist - Government and Stakeholders, you will develop strategic external messaging, government and stakeholder engagement positioning and executive-ready materials that support Water Corporation’s major priorities, investment proposals and relationships with government and key stakeholders. The role works closely with senior internal stakeholders, business case owners and subject matter experts to translate complex technical, policy and business case information into clear messaging, briefings and engagement material for senior leaders, including CEO and Executive engagements.

What you can expect with this role

- Develop strategic messaging, narratives and positioning for major corporate priorities for engagement with the Minister, Government agencies and strategic external stakeholders.
Translate complex technical, operational, policy and commercial information into clear, accurate and professional communications and engagement materials.
Ensure external messaging aligns with Water Corporation priorities, Government policy settings and agreed corporate positions.
Provide strategic communication, engagement and narrative support for business cases, investment proposals, funding submissions and related briefing materials.
Work with business case owners and subject matter experts to ensure technically accurate content (including financials) is expressed in plain English, aligned with Government priorities and Water Corporation’s corporate position.
Identify likely government, stakeholder and reputational considerations relevant to major investment proposals and recommend clear positioning for senior leaders.

Your skills and experience

Degree level qualification in communications, public relations, public policy, government relations, stakeholder engagement or related discipline.
Substantial experience preparing strategic communications, presentations, briefing materials, submissions, stakeholder engagement documents or executive-ready advice in a complex organisation.
Considerable experience supporting government, Ministerial, central agency, regulator, industry or major stakeholder engagement.
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarise complex issues for senior executives, government and external stakeholders.
Ability to draft narratives, key messages, briefing packs, speaking points, presentations and engagement materials with a high degree of autonomy.
Strong internal stakeholder and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence effectively across business units, subject matter experts and senior leaders.
