As part of our Civil - ATM group, the Senior Systems Engineer - ATM will support the Air Traffic Management engineering team in the tender, execution and delivery phases of Air Traffic Management projects.
The role will focus on all aspects of the Systems Engineering lifecycle, with particular focus on the program’s engineering baselines, including planning of changes to those baselines, and ensuring consistency of implementation across Safety, Security and quality aspects throughout project implementation.
To be successful in this role, you must be highly motivated, demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and have a keen interest in technical and complex software systems, preferably within the Air Traffic Management domain.
Further, the successful candidate will:

Map customer requirements to system solutions based on Saab’s Air Traffic Management product portfolio.

Perform requirements analysis, develop requirement specifications and participate in the design, verification and validation of solutions.

Liaise across all project engineering disciplines to ensure that activities relating to Safety, Security and Quality are addressed in an effective and cohesive manner to ensure consistency of implementation across all ATM projects.

Support the program in development of external interface specifications, system design documents and acceptance test documents.

Perform activities based on applicable policies, guidelines, cost awareness, rules and procedure (incl. those related to health and safety, quality and environment).
Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and a 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role.
Your skills and experience will include:

Degree in Systems Engineering, Software or Electronics engineering.

Eligible for chartered engineering status and state engineering registration (Queensland/Victoria).

Minimum of 8 years’ Systems Engineering experience, preferably within the ATM or Defence domains.
-
Demonstrable experience of Systems Engineering process in the ATM (or closely related) context, including requirements management, system design, integration, verification and validation.

Experienced in the implementation of quality assurance processes and guidelines for software development in a Safety-related domain e.g. DO-207A/ED153 in the ATM context.

Ability to undertake high-level requirements derivation and system design.

Proficiency in using advanced systems engineering software tools e.g. DOORS.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Experience with systems integration, testing, and validation

Ability to develop and review and interpret specifications, interface documentation, drawings and estimates.

Understand complex technical issues and manage them within project cost, time and quality constraints.

Ability to write clear and precise technical reports.

Well-developed written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment.

Demonstrate awareness and ability to address whole of capability/systems issues, such as safety, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), cybersecurity and supportability.

Strong time management and organisational skills.

Experience in the Air Traffic Management domain is highly desirable.
Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to baseline level.
