The SAP Technical Specialist – Finance Data Extraction is responsible for designing, developing, and executing SAP-based data extraction solutions to support the migration of financial data to Workday. The role will focus on translating functional data mapping requirements into scalable, repeatable, and high-quality extraction programs that deliver consistent outputs across multiple migration cycles throughout the project lifecycle.
Working closely with Functional Architects, Data Migration teams, and Technical Architects, the specialist will develop robust extraction routines for key finance data domains, including general ledger, sub-ledgers, financial master data, and transactional data. The role will ensure that all extracted data aligns with defined technical standards, reconciliation requirements, and downstream processing needs within the migration platform.

Design, build, and maintain SAP extraction programs to support finance data migration activities.

Translate functional mapping specifications and business requirements into efficient technical extraction solutions.

Develop custom ABAP extraction programs and leverage appropriate SAP extraction methodologies to retrieve required data sets.

Create scalable and reusable extraction routines capable of supporting multiple trial conversions and production migration cycles.

Supporting Reference Data

Ensure extracted data supports migration requirements for Workday and associated transformation processes.

Ensure extraction outputs conform to agreed file structures, field definitions, formatting requirements, and delivery standards.

Implement validation and reconciliation controls to verify completeness and accuracy of extracted data.
-
Maintain traceability between SAP source data and delivered extraction outputs.
-
Support issue investigation and resolution for data quality and reconciliation discrepancies.
-
Execute extraction programs for all mock loads, trial migrations, dress rehearsals, and production cutover activities.

Monitor extraction performance and optimize programs for increased data volumes and processing efficiency.

Troubleshoot technical issues and implement corrective actions to ensure successful data delivery.

Partner with Functional Architects to understand business requirements and translate them into technical extraction specifications.

Collaborate with the Technical Architect to ensure solutions align with project architecture, development standards, and governance requirements.

Support testing, validation, and business sign-off activities by providing technical expertise and extraction analysis.

Participate in migration planning and readiness activities throughout the project lifecycle.

Produce and maintain technical design documentation, extraction specifications, execution procedures, and support guides.

Ensure compliance with project standards, change controls, and audit requirements.

Contribute to continuous improvement of extraction processes and migration practices.

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance Systems, or a related discipline.

Extensive experience developing SAP technical solutions, including custom ABAP development.

Demonstrated experience delivering SAP data extraction and migration activities within complex transformation programs.

Strong understanding of SAP Finance (FI) data structures and related master and transactional data.
-
Experience building repeatable extraction processes supporting large-scale system migrations or ERP transformations.
-
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
-
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication capabilities.
-
Experience supporting SAP to Workday migration programs.
-
Knowledge of SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA environments.
-
Experience working with enterprise data migration platforms and transformation tools.
-
Familiarity with data reconciliation, validation, and financial controls.
-
Experience in large-scale finance transformation or ERP modernization projects.
