ARMORMAN 4X4 is seeking an experienced, full-time Motor Mechanic / 4x4 Accessories Fitter to join our growing team.
This is a hands-on mechanical position specialising in the installation, maintenance, servicing and repair of 4x4 vehicles and accessories.
We are particularly interested in experienced Motor Mechanics who have practical experience with 4x4 vehicles, suspension systems and aftermarket 4x4 accessories.
The Role
The successful candidate will carry out mechanical servicing, repairs, diagnostics and installation of 4x4 accessories and vehicle systems.
Your duties will include:
- Diagnose mechanical faults in petrol and diesel light vehicles
- Carry out general vehicle servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs
- Inspect, repair and replace worn or defective mechanical components
- Diagnose faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment and scan tools
- Test and inspect vehicles following repairs or modifications
- Install and service 4x4 suspension systems, including shock absorbers, struts, coil springs and related components
- Inspect, service and repair vehicle braking systems
- Install and connect long-range and replacement fuel tanks
- Install bull bars and winches
- Install 4x4 trays and canopy systems
- Install service bodies and tray/canopy combinations
- Install side steps, underbody protection and recovery equipment
- Install roof racks, backbones and other 4x4 accessories
- Carry out basic accessory electrical connections where required
- Complete final vehicle inspections, adjustments and road tests
- Follow manufacturer specifications, workshop procedures and applicable safety and ADR requirements
- Maintain accurate job cards and workshop records
- Maintain a safe, organised and professional workshop
About You
We are looking for someone who is a Motor Mechanic first, with strong 4x4 accessory fitting experience.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Relevant automotive mechanical trade qualification, preferably Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent
- Strong practical experience as a Motor Mechanic
- Demonstrated experience working on 4WD and light commercial vehicles
- Previous experience fitting aftermarket 4x4 accessories is highly desirable
- Strong experience with suspension installation and mechanical work
- Experience with braking systems and general vehicle servicing
- Ability to diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs
- Ability to interpret fitting instructions and manufacturer specifications
- Good mechanical problem-solving skills
- High standard of workmanship and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a workshop team
- Current Australian driver's licence or ability to obtain the appropriate licence
- Good workplace communication skills
- Commitment to workplace health and safety
Experience fitting bull bars, suspension, winches, trays, canopies, fuel tanks, roof racks and other 4x4 equipment will be highly regarded.
Experience
Applicants should ideally have:
- A relevant automotive trade qualification; and
- At least 2 years of relevant Motor Mechanic experience
Applicants with substantial relevant automotive experience and overseas qualifications are also encouraged to apply.
