Full Job Description

Martinus is a leading full-service railway infrastructure company that designs builds and maintains large scale railways across the globe. We are a company that focuses on finding people who are the right fit into our company culture as much as having the right skills and experience.

The Role

As our Brisbane project portfolio continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Controller to support the successful delivery of several station projects we are building across the city.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute professional to play a key role in project financial performance while working alongside experienced project and commercial teams on these high-profile rail infrastructure jobs.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to;

Develop and maintain project budgets in coordination with project managers and finance teams. Monitor budget variances and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Work closely with project managers to evaluate change requests and update budgets accordingly.
Track and analyse project costs, including expenditures, budgets, and forecasts, to ensure alignment with project objectives and financial targets.
Prepare accurate and timely financial forecasts, highlighting potential risks and opportunities.
Review contracts and agreements to ensure adherence to financial terms and conditions.
Develop risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with project teams.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to project cost management.
Identify opportunities to enhance cost control processes and tools.
Liaise with project stakeholders, including project managers, finance teams, contractors, and clients, to provide regular updates on project financial performance and address any cost-related queries or concerns.

Experience/Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) preferred.
Proven experience in cost control or financial management, preferably within the construction, engineering, or infrastructure sector.
Familiarity with project management principles and methodologies.
Proficiency in financial modelling, budgeting software, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant financial software applications.
Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting techniques, and cost management practices.
Ability to analyse complex financial data, identify trends, and draw meaningful insights to support decision-making.
Prior experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects is desirable.
