MECHANICAL ENGINEER

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the independent selection, evaluation, and application of relevant engineering knowledge, techniques and procedures in support of the safe and effective operation, maintenance and management of facility assets, infrastructure and systems.

Active TS/SCI with Polygraph Clearance (No exceptions—only cleared candidates will be considered.) or Australian Citizen who can obtain the appropriate level of security clearance.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities/Duties

Perform technical studies, analyses, investigations and consultations.
Identify, define and develop detailed requirements for facility infrastructure, equipment and system modification, replacement, upgrade and/or recapitalization.
Design and/or develop solutions for a variety of technical problems of moderate to extreme scope and complexity across the mechanical engineering discipline.
Review and provide technical advice on proposed changes to facility infrastructure and system changes, from general concepts through to detailed IFC designs.
Perform engineering calculations in support of facility infrastructure operation and design.
Provide technical recommendations, input, direction and advice on facilities system, infrastructure and equipment reliability, operation, maintenance, life-cycle management and costing.
Development of ROM costing estimates in support of facility infrastructure, equipment and system modification, upgrade, replacement and/or recapitalization.
Evaluate operational systems, equipment, processes and infrastructure in support of general and targeted optimization and improvement initiatives.
Ensure, promote, and maintain health and safety practices/compliances at site and within the workplace.
Any other reasonable duties as requested

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Essential

Undergraduate Degree
Field: Mechanical Engineering or other relevant or related discipline Desirable

Field: Any relevant or related discipline

TICKETS AND LICENSES

Minimum Essential

Driver’s License

Desirable

PE/CPEng certification

Experience and Skills - Minimum Essential

Familiarity with HVAC and hydronic systems, data centre cooling systems, building management and control systems.
Minimum one year of experience with building management and control systems, building management and control systems and facilities operation and maintenance required.
Experience with project management and leadership desired.

WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL DEMANDS, AND MENTAL DEMANDS

Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 10kgs, kneeling, standing and walking, routinely sitting and constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, and must be able to work under deadlines.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT

It is a condition of employment at JDFPG that employees obtain and retain the appropriate level of security clearance and medical clearance applicable to each role. The employee will require a Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Department of Defence Security Clearance (Australian).

STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIREMENTS

All personnel assigned shall be:

At least 18 years of age.
Able to fluently read, write and speak English

EHS REQUIREMENTS

All Amentum personnel are responsible for understanding and complying with all site environmental, health and safety requirements. While Amentum is responsible for providing a safe workplace and is responsible for ensuring compliance with requirements of the EHS Handbook, each person is responsible for:

Completing work tasks in a safe manner
Reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to their supervisor and/or PMO/EHS Manager
Continuous adherence to the environmental, health and safety procedures outlined in the EHS Handbook during the performance of their work
Red-Carding a Job - Employee right and responsibility to “STOP WORK” if a job is unsafe or possess a danger to the environment
