About the Role:
Lyell McEwin Hospital is the principal tertiary referral centre for Adelaide's northern suburbs and beyond — a growing, diverse community that relies on specialist care delivered with genuine commitment. The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is seeking an experienced Rheumatologist to join the team on a part-time basis, contributing specialist expertise at 0.2 FTE through to 2 July 2027.
What You'll Be Doing
Providing consultant-level rheumatology services to inpatients and outpatients at Lyell McEwin Health Service
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across NALHN to deliver evidence-based care for patients with complex musculoskeletal and autoimmune conditions
Contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement, and the development of rheumatology services within the northern Adelaide catchment
Supporting the clinical education of junior medical staff and allied health colleagues where appropriate
What You'll Bring
Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Rheumatology, or equivalent specialist recognition
Current or eligible registration with AHPRA as a specialist physician
Demonstrated experience managing a broad rheumatology caseload, including inflammatory arthritis and connective tissue disease
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively across multidisciplinary teams in a public health setting
Familiarity with SA Health clinical systems and public hospital environments is advantageous
Commitment to culturally safe, patient-centred care for a socially diverse metropolitan population
To be eligible for this position, you must have
Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent.
Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration;
or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.
The Total Indicative Remuneration figure is calculated taking into account base salary, leave loading and superannuation as well as managerial allowances, professional development or any other allowances where appropriate.

An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.

NALHN provides a range of hospital (inpatient), outpatient, community and home-based services across multiple sites in Adelaide’s north and north-eastern suburbs, including Aboriginal health, mental health, and GP services.
Lyell McEwin Hospital – the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services.
Modbury Hospital – a general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.
Mental Health Services – adult and older persons mental health services and statewide forensic mental health services, across hospital and community settings.
Watto Purrunna Aboriginal Primary Health Care Services – provides culturally responsive primary healthcare services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in-hospital and across four community sites.
