Help keep prison services running safely and smoothly every day.
Support staff, visitors and prison operations through varied administrative work.

Casual role earning $62,104 - $79,753 per year, plus super.

About Us

Department of Justice and Community Safety comprises of eight regions, through which compliance, enforcement and regulatory services are provided to the Victorian community.

Located at Castlemaine, Loddon Prison is a 477 bed Medium Security Prison for sentenced male prisoners. Adjacent to Loddon Prison is Middleton, a 236 bed Restricted Minimum Security Prison for sentenced male prisoners. The focus of both prisons is rehabilitation via individual case management, employment, education, training and also the provision of programs and targeted interventions to address offending behaviour and promote the development of prosocial behaviour. Both prisons provide contemporary and quality correctional services that prepare prisoners for transition and reintegration. The third prison is located at Maldon, a minimum risk women's facility; Tarrengower Prison.

What you will do

As justice officer - prison services, you will provide reception, administrative and business support in a prison environment.

You will help deliver accurate, timely and professional services that support daily prison operations.

You will:

provide reliable reception, concierge and administrative support across prison services
coordinate staff movements, meetings, events, mail and routine records with care and accuracy
prepare correspondence, reports and meeting minutes and maintain secure electronic records
give clear information to visitors, answer switchboard enquiries and direct calls to the right area
review prisoner property and visitor processes, complete regular audits and support continuous improvement.

About you

Experience in a correctional environment is desirable. Advanced computer skills across word processing, spreadsheets, email, appointment scheduling and internet systems are also desirable.

You should also have:

strong computer skills and a sound understanding of relevant legislation, policies and procedures
the ability to solve problems, follow processes and produce accurate work
respectful communication skills and the ability to work well with others
a professional approach that values inclusion, accountability and continuous improvement.
