Support Worker & Mentor – Female / Cultural Match Preferred (Camira, QLD)

The Opportunity

We are seeking a young female Support Worker / Mentor for an exciting new opportunity within our network, supporting a lovely teenage female participant based in Camira.

Important Participant Preference:

To ensure the highest level of personal comfort for the participant and alignment with the family's home environment, the family has requested a female mentor that has a deep familiarity and alignment with the Australian culture.

Because this participant is sensitive to the perceived social stigma of having a support worker, we are framing this role as a mentor and older friend. The ideal candidate will be a master at building genuine trust, displaying high levels of empathy, flexibility, and patience.

The Strategy

Phase 1 (Building Rapport): Starting at one day a week, you will initially hang out with her at home to slowly build a comfortable connection.
Phase 2 (Community Engagement): Once trust is established, your goal will be to gently motivate her to try new activities, get out of the house, and eventually transition to fun respite outings.

What We Are Looking For

A warm, nurturing nature with a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
The ability to think outside the box, use your creative initiative, and go the extra mile.
Strong professional boundaries (crucial for a mentor-style role).
Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written).
Ability to work seamlessly both independently and as part of a wider team.

Position Requirements

Qualifications: Minimum Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services, or equivalent.
Experience: Previous experience supporting youth aged 10+ with disabilities or mental health challenges.
Tech Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer systems for record-keeping.
