At the City of Playford, we are looking for a passionate and customer-focused Theatre Technician to join our Business Development team. As our Theatre Technician, you will help deliver a wide range of live productions, community events and functions across the Playford Civic Centre, including the Shedley Theatre and surrounding event spaces. What you will get to do
As a Casual Civic Theatre Technician, you will:

Deliver technical support for performances, functions and venue hire activities, including the setup, operation and pack down of lighting, sound, vision and staging equipment

Act as a key point of contact for performers, event organisers and venue hirers, providing technical guidance and exceptional customer service throughout their event

Maintain and monitor technical equipment, including sound, lighting, recording, visual and IT systems, ensuring venues remain event-ready

Help maintain safe, welcoming and professional spaces for customers, visitors and staff

Contribute to a flexible seven-day operation that supports a diverse calendar of performances, functions and community events
Who you are
You are passionate about live entertainment and enjoy the behind-the-scenes work that helps events run smoothly. You bring a positive attitude, strong technical capability and a customer-focused mindset. You are calm under pressure, adaptable and confident troubleshooting issues while delivering quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
You bring:

Experience in live production, theatre, venue operations or event support

Strong knowledge of sound, lighting and audio-visual systems

An understanding of staging, rigging or backstage operations

Excellent communication and customer service skills

Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment

Strong organisational and time management skills, with a focus on safety and professionalism

A willingness to learn, grow and develop your skills in a professional theatre and events environment
Tertiary qualification in lighting, sound, or visual effects is highly desirable, however we welcome applicants with equivalent experience. You will also need to hold, or be willing to obtain, an Elevated Work Platform Certification, a Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
