Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is actively seeking a System Administrator to join the C-17A Globemaster III sustainment services team at RAAF Base Amberley.
Program Overview
The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) commands a fleet of C-17A Globemasters, the backbone of Australia's heavy lift capability. These aircraft operate relentlessly—24/7, 365 days a year—supporting critical missions both domestically and internationally. From challenging Antarctic deployments to delivering humanitarian aid and disaster relief worldwide, Boeing Defence Australia stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the RAAF, with System Administrator being one of those disciplines
Why This Role is Compelling
- Take ownership of critical system administration functions that ensure secure and reliable access to the C-17A ICT systems supporting Australia's strategic airlift capability.
- Play a key role in monitoring and maintaining system health and software integrity, coordinating with software vendors to keep systems up-to-date and compliant with licensing requirements.
- Be at the forefront of software maintenance and interface management, resolving system failures and ensuring seamless connectivity between C-17A ICT systems and CIOG networks.
- Support the Air Mobility Group - Cyber team in achieving and maintaining cyberworthiness and security accreditation, safeguarding the operational readiness and security posture of vital ICT support systems.
- Work within a dynamic, mission-critical environment, collaborating with Defence Groups and System Program Offices to deliver secure, effective ICT services that directly impact Australia's defence capabilities.
Role Responsibilities
- System Administration: Plan and administer system access, maintain system records.
- Monitoring & Maintenance: Monitor system events, coordinate with software vendors for updates and license management.
- Software Maintenance: Perform software maintenance, resolve system failures, maintain interfaces between C-17A ICT systems and CIOG networks, and manage software retirement activities.
- Cybersecurity Support: Support Air Mobility Group - Cyber with cyberworthiness and security accreditation for new and existing C-17A ICT support systems.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.)
- Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols (CISCO, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of cyber security frameworks.
- Hold and Maintain appropriate Defence security requirements (NV1)
