About the Role:
As a Palliative Care Consultant, you will provide specialist medical leadership and high-quality clinical care to patients receiving palliative care services across the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN). Based within the Aged Care, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care Division, you will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive, compassionate and patient-centred care to inpatients, outpatients and community-based consumers with complex and life-limiting illnesses.
In this role, you will contribute to the management and coordination of patient care, provide specialist consultation services, and support clinical decision-making across the service. You will play a key role in teaching and mentoring junior medical staff, medical students and other healthcare professionals, while also contributing to research, quality improvement initiatives and service development.
Working closely with colleagues across NALHN and community partners, you will help shape contemporary palliative care services that enhance quality of life, support patients and families, and uphold excellence in clinical practice. The role also offers opportunities to contribute to education, innovation and the ongoing development of palliative care services across the network and broader region.
To be eligible for this position, you must hold a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent qualification and be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist Registration, or hold another qualification recognised under the South Australian Medical Officers Award.
The Total Indicative Remuneration figure is calculated taking into account base salary, leave loading and superannuation as well as managerial allowances, professional development or any other allowances where appropriate.

NALHN provides a range of hospital (inpatient), outpatient, community and home-based services across multiple sites in Adelaide’s north and north-eastern suburbs, including Aboriginal health, mental health, and GP services.
Lyell McEwin Hospital – the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services.
Modbury Hospital – a general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.
Mental Health Services – adult and older persons mental health services and statewide forensic mental health services, across hospital and community settings.
