We are seeking to appoint a Senior Registrar/Veterinary Specialist in Small Animal Diagnostic Imaging to join a team of outstanding world-class clinical specialist colleagues at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Sydney. This role does not require previous academic experience but rather a strong clinical background and interest in supporting student development.
You will be responsible for providing best practice veterinary small animal Diagnostic Imaging services at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Sydney (UVTHS) while taking an active role in the training of students working in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The position will help to sustain and enhance a caseload and provide services for the purpose of teaching Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and residents in UVTH-Sydney. You will also assist clinicians in other small animal disciplines with case management and assist in teaching as clinical instructors.
The academic environment is different to commercial specialty practice with the academic mission of teaching and research being central to operations.

Your key responsibilities will be to:
provide an effective service for small animal Diagnostic Imaging cases
take a leadership role with the training of students and residents
provide support for cases from other clinical services within the University Veterinary Teaching Hospitals
participate in after-hours on-call roster by negotiation.

Senior Registrar i n Small Animal Diagnostic Imaging , (HEO Level 8) is a veterinarian with responsibilities within a specific area of clinical practice, and who provides leadership in his/her chosen discipline as well as being involved in clinical training programs. In addition to the requirements for a Registrar position, you must have :
completed a residency training program in Small Animal Diagnostic Imaging
a degree in veterinary science registrable in New South Wales, Australia
excellent clinical skills
experience in teaching and providing clinical instruction
an ability to work independently and within a team environment
the ability to show initiative and manage competing deadlines
excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Veterinary Specialist in Small Animal Diagnostic Imaging (HEO level 9) is a veterinarian with at least partial responsibility for the management of a unit or division, including the management of a range of staff working within the relevant discipline or sub-discipline, who has, in addition to the requirements for a Senior Registrar position:
The commencement level will be determined based on the candidate’s skills, experience and knowledge.
Automatic progression from Senior Registrar to Veterinary Specialist upon successful completion of abovelisted specialist requirements.
