Job Description
The Senior Mechanical Engineer provides mechanical engineering technical support to the Capital Works and Minor Projects and Facilities Management teams across Griffith University’s campuses.
Campus Life is responsible for the construction and functional operation of the University’s built environment and grounds. The Engineering Services section of Campus Life provides a range of support, technical advice and operational assistance to Facilities Management (FM), Asset Management (AM), and Capital Works and Minor Projects (CWMP), including contributing to master planning and supporting the University’s goals for environmental sustainability.
Key responsibilities include

Provide design solutions for a diverse range of HVAC and piped gas systems suitable for cost estimation, consultancy briefing and in-house design.

Support our construction teams by reviewing and providing professional advice on technical submittals, shop drawings, RFI’s, programmes of work, testing and commissioning, O&M’s, etc, for all elements of mechanical engineering systems.

Deliver engineering projects.

Supervise and mentor junior team members.

Manage multiple major and minor projects simultaneously and track project information.

Update and maintain information on Mechanical Services infrastructure.
About you
-
A degree in Mechanical Engineering (recognised in Australia) and registered mechanical RPEQ.

5 Years or more acting as a senior engineer for contractors or consultants in Australasia, ideally working on University, life sciences, laboratory or hospital facilities.

A demonstrable knowledge of mechanical and BMS systems within building services, including a high level of competency using engineering design software such as Carrier HAP, CAMEL, IES, Design Builder, Fantech acoustic & AutoCad/Revit.

Team-focused with the ability to engage with a wide variety of clients and stakeholders whilst working proactively with project managers, maintenance and asset management staff to improve the performance of our engineering assets at all our campuses.

Excellent communication skills to provide clear & concise commentary, including presenting engineering concepts, representing the University at meetings in the design and construction phase, and providing inspection reports.

What we can offer
This is a fixed-term, full-time position and whilst it is based at Griffith University, Brisbane South (Nathan), you will be regularly required to work across other campuses including Gold Coast, Logan and Brisbane City (South Bank).
Griffith University’s sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.
Salary
HEW 8 - Base range - $117,579.27 - $132,273.33 + 17% superannuation. Full package range - $137,567.74 - $154,759.79.
