Operating as a centralised development and enablement function within Coles Technology, the team unites product, engineering, and platform capabilities to deliver the intelligence layer of the enterprise. We serve every part of Coles — from computer vision applications that enhance in-store experiences and reduce loss, to forecasting, optimisation, and decision-support solutions that drive efficiency, accuracy, and agility across our supply chain, retail operations, and corporate functions.

Coles 360 is part of our Data and AI team that is building the data, identity and measurement foundations required to enable scalable retail media across owned and off-network environments.
The Senior Data Scientist will join our Measurement Products team. In this role, you’ll design and operationalize measurement solutions that help Coles, Flybuys and our clients understand the effectiveness of marketing investment, audience activation and customer engagement.
This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of analytics, experimentation, attribution, product and data engineering while helping shape the future of retail media measurement at Coles.
Key responsibilities will include:

You’ll act as a strategic thought partner and technical expert responsible for designing and operationalising measurement solutions that inform customer, marketing and commercial decision

Design and implement attribution, experimentation and measurement methodologies
-
Translate complex analytical findings into actionable business recommendations
-
Build and maintain analytical datasets, data models and measurement assets using SQL, Python, DBT and Snowflake
-
Use Git and modern development practices to develop scalable analytical solutions
-
Partner with Product and Engineering teams to productionise measurement capabilities
-
Coach and mentor analysts and data scientists across the team

Communicate findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders
To be successful, you will have experience delivering the following:

Strong SQL and Python skills
-
Experience building analytical datasets and data models using DBT and cloud data platforms (Snowflake preferred)
-
Experience using Git and collaborative development workflows
-
Strong statistical foundations, including experimentation, causal inference and observational analysis
-
Experience designing attribution, incrementality or marketing measurement methodologies
-
Ability to translate complex analytical outputs into business decisions and stakeholder recommendations

Comfortable working across analytics, product and engineering disciplines
This role will offer you the opportunity to work on complex measurement, attribution, and experimentation challenges at scale whilst also, building production-grade measurement products rather than one-off analysis.
Influence strategic marketing, customer and commercial decisions, collaborate with Product, Engineering, Analytics and Commercial teams across Coles 360.
