Multiple exciting opportunities are now open in the 2026-27 Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF) Summer Internship Program for students who will be in their final or penultimate year of university in 2027.
Apply your studies in economics, econometrics, public policy, finance or accounting to real world problems and get hands-on experience working for DTF or the Essential Services Commission (ESC).
Paid internships are offered on a full-time, fixed term basis across two streams - Economics & Public Policy and Accounting & Finance – with roles available in the following areas:
About the role
As an intern at DTF or the ESC, you will be matched with a team in one of the above areas for 12 weeks between 30 November 2026 and 19 February 2027.
Economics & Public Policy interns will report to a Senior Economist or Senior Policy Analyst. Accounting & Finance interns will report to a Principal Analyst or Senior Analyst. See the Position Description for more details.
Throughout your internship at DTF or the ESC, you will:
Work alongside leading experts in economics, public policy and financial management, with on-the-job support and mentoring from experienced public servants,
If eligible, interns who successfully complete the internship program are strongly encouraged to apply for an ongoing role through the Victorian Government Graduate Program.

About you
Applicants should be in their penultimate or final year of university in 2027 and possess genuine interest in the role of economics, econometrics, accounting or finance in shaping public policy. Applicants are not expected to have any practical work experience in this field.
