Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your mechanical maintenance expertise in a new cutting-edge field within our Service/Maintenance team. This is an exciting time to join at our facility in Bellevue, WA. Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance programmes for our DMU fleet, which will replace the Australind service between Perth and Bunbury. We’ll look to you for:
- Preventive and corrective maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance and fault rectification activities on diesel trains in accordance with maintenance plans and procedures.
- Diesel powerpack maintenance: Carry out inspection, servicing, troubleshooting, and replacement activities related to diesel powerpack systems, including engines, transmission systems, cooling systems, fuel systems, and associated components.
- Mechanical system inspections: Support maintenance of mechanical systems such as brakes, bogies, couplers, suspension systems, doors, HVAC systems, and underframe equipment.
- Fault diagnosis and troubleshooting: Identify faults, perform root-cause troubleshooting, and support restoration activities to minimize train downtime.
- Safety and compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety requirements, work instructions, and maintenance standards.
- Operational readiness: Support train preparation activities and ensure trains are ready for service operation.
- Inspection and reporting: Record maintenance activities, report defects, and update maintenance documentation and checklists.
- Support fleet reliability: Assist in improving fleet performance and reliability through timely maintenance actions and identification of recurring issues.
- Shift and availability requirements: The role requires flexibility to support operational and maintenance demands, including night shifts, weekends (if required), and flexible working hours to support train availability and service requirements.

- Experience in diesel powerpack systems is preferred, including hands-on experience with diesel engines, transmission systems, cooling systems, and related rolling stock maintenance is preferred.
- Preventive and corrective maintenance experience, ideally on rollingstock or similar equipment.
- Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Fitting (Certificate III or Certificate IV in Engineering (Maintenance) or equivalent Australian-recognised qualification) is required.
- Willing to work night shifts and flexible hours, when required.
