THE POSITION:
Fairfield City Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Site Supervisor Waste & Cleansing to lead the day-to-day delivery of essential waste and cleansing services across the City. Reporting to the Manager Waste & Cleansing Operations, you will supervise operational staff and contractors, coordinate resources, and ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently and to agreed performance standards.
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing a broad range of services including street cleaning, street sweeping, street beautification, street bin collection and repairs, missed services and illegal dumping response. You will manage daily operational priorities, allocate labour, plant and equipment resources, monitor service delivery and productivity, and provide frontline support to ensure operational objectives are achieved.
The role also involves responding to resident enquiries and complaints, supporting the performance and development of staff, approving workforce records and timesheets, and ensuring compliance with Council policies, procedures and WHS requirements. Leading a team of approximately 25 employees, you will play a key role in maintaining clean, safe and attractive public spaces for the Fairfield community.
ABOUT YOU:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Certificate IV in Frontline Management
- Current Class HR Driver's Licence
- Experience supervising street cleansing, street sweeping or similar operational services
- Knowledge of street cleansing equipment, materials and operational practices
- Demonstrated ability to make operational decisions and direct field-based teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Sound knowledge and practical application of WHS legislation and practices
- Experience in crane operations and site management
- Experience training, coaching and motivating staff
- Experience using electronic workforce management, payroll and timesheet systems
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other computer applications
- Experience using electronic document and records management systems (e.g. Objective, TRIM or equivalent)
The following qualifications and experience are considered advantageous for this role:
- First Aid Certificate
- Experience in recycling operations and collection methods
- ChemCert qualification
- Experience operating side-loader collection vehicles
- Forklift operation certification
SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Permanent full-time position, working 38 hours per week
- This position is a Grade F, with a salary range starting from $82,596 p.a. up to $88,950 p.a. on demonstrated competencies, with further performance-based progression available up to $96,749 p.a., plus superannuation
- A leaseback vehicle is available
- A mobile telephone is provided
