The Corporate Services division is a client-focused, high-performing division delivering quality services across the Commission. The division enables the Commission to deliver on its functions by building organisational capability and integrity through leadership in financial management, human resources, governance, information technology, and stewardship of the Queensland Child Death Register. This ensures strong internal operations and professional, accountable government interactions.
Within the Corporate Services division, the Finance and Business Services team is responsible for managing and overseeing all matters relating to the financial, procurement, contract management and facilities functions within the Commission. Our aim is to ensure the effective and ethical use of public resources, and compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements, while supporting the strategic objectives and positive culture of the Commission.
In this role you will have the following responsibilities and accountabilities:
Lead the preparation and coordination of annual budgets and quarterly budget reviews, including the preparation and submission of financial and staffing data in the Queensland Treasury reporting tool FRaMES.
Lead the delivery of the Commission's month-end financial reporting, including forecast reporting, coordinating the completion of monthly reconciliations, accruals and other necessary ledger adjustments, ensuring accuracy and integrity of the financial management systems.
Analyse financial information, identifying trends, issues and opportunities to support strategic decision-making.
Provide expert financial advice to management on budget development, forecasting, cost pressures, risks and other financial performance and management matters.
Develop, implement and maintain the Commission's financial management policies and procedures to ensure the Commission is complaint with legislation, government policies and standards.
Provide authoritative advice to Commission staff on procurement and contract management processes and compliance in line with policies and guidelines.
Drive continuous improvement in procurement and contract management processes, systems and governance and accurately maintain the Commissions contract register.
Other activities as required to support the effective delivery of finance and business services functions.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the Commission, with our administering agency, and across government, particularly with Queensland Treasury and the Queensland Audit Office.
Provide functional leadership, guidance, and mentoring to finance and business services staff, fostering capability development and consistent practice.

Non-mandatory requirements: While not mandatory, a relevant qualification and/or previous experience in a similar role would be highly regarded.
Working with Children Clearance: Potential applicants are advised that the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening Act 2000) requires the Commission to seek a 'working with children check' from Queensland Blue Card Services. The Commission will facilitate the applicants obtaining the above check if required.
