We are seeking a Software Engineer to work on a number of projects including the Learning Healthcare System. This project is a collaboration with the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network and other children’s hospitals designing and implementing a state-of-the-art digital infrastructure system to support a learning healthcare system. The infrastructure aims to transform eMR data into an analysable format, allowing researchers to safely and securely access data to perform analyses and report the results to clinicians in a timely manner.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- work under broad direction and actively contribute to the achievement of research work carried out by the work unit, working in close collaboration with the leadership team to ensure that the requirements of the research project are addressed appropriately
- work with the Software Development Manager and Director to develop IT plans for the research project(s), impacting the immediate outcomes of the research project
- resolve complex matters related to the research projects under management and draw on your extensive IT experience to provide sound advice and recommendations, exercise independent judgement and apply extensive professional know-how to achieve their work goals
- provide expert advice on software and data engineering principles and best practices, sound technical support, and expert advice on possible solutions that meet business needs
- ensure effective data solutions meet user requirements by understanding the business processes and its strategic challenges
- conduct detailed analysis of data profiling, source-target mappings, Ingestion development, tuning and optimization, testing, and implementation.
- develop and design the enterprise data models in line with the data modelling standards and guidelines
- develop automated testing processes to ensure quality is maintained and detect errors as early as possible
- assist in developing project plans, assigning the appropriate technical resources and provide estimates on costs, time, and scope
- be involved in projects that could enhance and optimise our new and existing business processes
About you
- have a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field e.g Computer Science, Information Technology alternatively an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience
- extensive experience in designing and building applications, and data pipelines including event driven sources, transformations, resilience, and API design
- extensive experience in designing, maintaining, and optimizing IT infrastructure (AWS), including security best practices
- extensive experience with data modelling, implementation, and management.
- extensive experience in developing code to perform the data operations including extraction, cleansing and transformation.
- extensive experience in SQL and Python is required, other skills will be considered.
- experience with developing secure web-based applications and data
- experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices
- experience with Microsoft and Linux operating systems
- a demonstratable ability to utilise AI models to enhance development productivity and quality
- desirable to have a broad understanding of applicable security and privacy standards and legislation as they relate to personal health data
- desirable to have a demonstrated proficiency in health and research data applications and their APIs, e.g. REDCap, WebPas, iCM iSoft.
- proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, working independently and within a team
- excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and achieve required outcomes
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills
