Full Job Description

Westlink Support Services Pty Ltd is an emerging disability support provider delivering person-centred, respectful and high-quality services to NDIS participants across Sydney. We are building a team of compassionate and highly skilled healthcare professionals who are committed to empowering people with disability to live safely, independently and with dignity in their own homes and communities. We are currently seeking experienced and motivated Registered Nurses to join our casual workforce and provide clinical nursing and high intensity disability supports to NDIS participants.

The opportunity

As a Casual Registered Nurse, you will provide professional nursing care and clinical support to NDIS participants with complex health needs. You will work collaboratively with participants, families, support workers, allied health professionals and healthcare providers to ensure safe, evidence-based and participant-focused care. This role is ideal for nurses seeking flexible casual work while making a meaningful difference in the disability sector.

Roster

Flexible casual shifts including weekdays, weekends and evenings depending on participant requirements.

The advertised hourly rate is subject to applicable award, classification and penalty rate requirements. Superannuation and any applicable allowances or penalty rates will be paid in accordance with relevant workplace laws and the applicable industrial instrument.

Casual nurses engaged under the applicable award may be entitled to a minimum engagement of 2 hours for each engagement.

Key responsibilities

Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care to NDIS participants in accordance with individual support plans and clinical needs.
Provide clinical assessment, monitoring and ongoing nursing interventions within your professional scope of practice.
Administer medications and undertake clinical procedures in accordance with legislation, organisational policies and participant care plans.
Deliver high intensity daily personal activities and complex care where appropriately trained and competent.
Monitor participant health status and identify changes requiring escalation or medical review.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation, progress notes, incident reports and medication records.
Collaborate with GPs, specialists, allied health professionals, families and support coordinators.
Provide clinical guidance and education to disability support workers when required.
Participate in care planning, risk assessments and implementation of positive health outcomes.
Respond professionally to clinical incidents and emergencies in accordance with organisational procedures.
Maintain participant confidentiality, dignity, privacy and human rights at all times.
Comply with NDIS Practice Standards, infection prevention procedures and organisational quality systems.

The NDIS Practice Standards require providers delivering High Intensity Daily Personal Activities to ensure workers have the appropriate skills, knowledge and competency for the supports they provide.

Participant education

Clinical duties will depend on participant needs and the nurse's verified competency and scope of practice.

What we are looking for

Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
Previous nursing experience within disability, aged care, community nursing or complex care is highly desirable.
Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work independently in participants' homes and community environments.
Professional, reliable and compassionate approach to participant care.
Commitment to person-centred practice and participant choice and control.
Confidence using electronic documentation and mobile reporting systems.
Current driver's licence and reliable vehicle preferred.

Registered Nurses practising in Australia must hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia through AHPRA.

Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia+1

Mandatory or preferred compliance requirements

Current AHPRA Registered Nurse registration.
NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain prior to commencement where required.
Current Working with Children Check (where applicable).
National Police Check.
Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Evidence of relevant vaccination or immunisation where required for participant safety and workplace policy.
Manual handling competency.
High Intensity Support training and competency where applicable.
Eligibility to work in Australia.

In NSW, an NDIS Worker Check is required for relevant risk-assessed roles involving specified supports or more than incidental contact with NDIS participants.
