Join Arup’s Resilience, Security & Risk (RSR) team and help solve some of the most complex Fire Risk, Dangerous Goods, and Process Safety challenges across Australia, New Zealand, and the wider APAC region. As a Senior Engineer, you will provide technical leadership within your specialist discipline while contributing to the growth of Arup’s broader Risk & Process Safety capability. This role offers the opportunity to lead high-impact projects, mentor talented engineers, and deliver risk-based engineering solutions that create safer, more resilient operations, facilities, and infrastructure.
The Opportunity
- Lead and deliver technically excellent Risk & Process Safety projects across Fire Risk, Dangerous Goods, and Process Safety disciplines.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with internal specialists, external design partners, and clients to achieve integrated project outcomes.
- Prepare, review, and sign off complex technical reports, compliance assessments, risk assessments, and engineering documentation.
- Manage projects from proposal through to delivery, ensuring quality, budget, and timeline objectives are achieved.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and the growth of the Risk & Process Safety practice.

Is this role right for you?
- A recognised tertiary qualification in Engineering, preferably in Fire Safety, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering, with Chartered and relevant engineering registration.
- Significant industry experience in Fire Risk, Dangerous Goods, Process Safety, or a closely related risk-based engineering discipline.
- Strong technical expertise in areas such as complex risk assessments, compliance reviews, fire consequence assessment and modelling, or dangerous goods management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders.
- Proven leadership, project management, and mentoring capabilities, with a collaborative approach and a commitment to quality, integrity, and continuous learning.
