Primary objective
Applies advanced nursing/midwifery knowledge, skills, attributes and abilities within a specified area of clinical practice in therapeutic and
professional relationships with individuals, as well as with families, groups and communities.
Context statement
As part of the Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) multi-disciplinary Access and Hospital Liaison Team, the applicant is required to rotate
between various teams to support clinical need. They will conduct a range of assessments, provide therapeutic interventions, care
coordination and education on issues relating to addiction and treatment options to staff, clients, and family members including other
agencies and community services using evidenced based practice. The applicant is required to have a working knowledge and
understanding of relevant legislation and AOD theoretical frameworks.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide comprehensive, safe, and effective evidence-based nursing/midwifery care to achieve identified individual/group health
outcomes.
2. Provide leadership and care coordination across a shift and act as a resource to other members of staff within a designated portfolio
e.g. education, NSQHS Standard.
3. Accountable for the planning, provision, and communication of nursing/midwifery care, including the evaluation and required revision
of practice.
4. Demonstrate NTH values - safe; responsive; kind – in all decision-making and interactions with consumers and colleagues.
5. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in
order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or eligible for same.
2. Demonstrated well-developed knowledge, skills and experience in a relevant area of nursing/midwifery relating to this vacancy with
depth in some areas and a broad range of skills.
3. Demonstrated ability to act as a clinical resource person and role model, including mentoring and preceptoring less experienced staff
and students.
4. Demonstrated contribution to the development and implementation of local activities beyond direct client care e.g. clinical education,
assist in management, research/quality assurance activities.
5. Demonstrated effective communication skills to achieve positive outcomes, including maintaining productive multi-disciplinary
working relationships, effectively dealing with challenging behaviours, and resolving conflicts.
6. Demonstrated well-developed knowledge and understanding of the social and cultural issues, influences and sensitivities that influence
health care provision for clients and families.
Desirable
1. Graduate Certificate beyond entry-to-practice in relevant specialty area.
