About Us

GMD Activewear Australia is an Australian, family-owned business specialising in gymnastics apparel, teamwear and accessories. Founded in 2000, we've grown into one of Australia's best-known gymnastics brands, supplying leotards, activewear, grips, bar loops, personalised gifts and custom club/team uniforms to gymnastics clubs, athletes and families across Australia and New Zealand. We operate a busy ecommerce store alongside pop-up retail at major gymnastics competitions, and work closely with clubs and schools on bulk and custom teamwear programs. We're a lean, collaborative team where design, production, ecommerce and marketing work hand in hand.

About the Role

We're looking for a Marketing Specialist to plan, coordinate and deliver marketing activity that grows brand awareness, drives ecommerce performance and supports product launches across our retail and club/teamwear channels. You'll work closely with our Design & Production team, our ecommerce platform (Shopify) and external partners to bring campaigns to life. From new collection launches timed around the competition calendar, to seasonal promotions, email marketing and social content.

This is a hands-on, strategic role suited to someone who enjoys owning a marketing calendar end-to-end: planning it, executing it, measuring it, and using the results to do better next time.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement marketing campaigns across email (EDM), social media, and the GMD website, aligned to product launches, seasonal collections and the gymnastics competition calendar
Build and maintain the marketing calendar, coordinating timing across ecommerce, design/production and warehouse teams
Plan and execute promotional and seasonal campaigns, including club/teamwear-specific communications
Manage and contribute to social media content strategy, working with internal designers and external content creators/photographers as needed
Monitor and report on campaign performance (email open/click rates, social engagement, Shopify sales and conversion data), and turn findings into recommendations
Conduct market research and competitor analysis across the activewear, apparel and sporting/dancewear categories
Support brand positioning and ensure consistency of tone, messaging and visual identity across digital and print touchpoints
Coordinate with external suppliers, agencies, photographers and influencers/ambassadors where relevant to campaigns
Identify and pursue opportunities to improve customer acquisition, retention and repeat purchase across our retail and club customer base
Support the ecommerce team on-site (Shopify) with campaign landing pages, promotional content and customer journey improvements
Prepare regular marketing performance reports for the leadership team

About You

Qualification in Marketing, Communications, Socioeconomics, Business or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience
Demonstrated professional experience in a marketing role, ideally including campaign planning and execution
Solid digital marketing skills, including email marketing platforms, social media management and basic web/ecommerce content tools
Experience analysing marketing and campaign performance data and translating it into practical recommendations
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clear, on-brand copy
Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple campaigns and deadlines at once
Confident working both independently and as part of a small, cross-functional team (design, production, ecommerce, sales)
Sound understanding of brand positioning and customer engagement principles
Sound understanding of the platforms (Notion, Trello, Slack, Meta, TikTok, Instagram, Capcut)

Highly Regarded (Not Essential)

Familiarity with gymnastics, dance, cheer or other performance/sporting apparel is highly regarded, given our products and customer base
A solid understanding of ecommerce fundamentals- customer journeys, conversion optimisation and digital sales performance within an online retail environment
