About the Role:
The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is expanding its mental health capacity, and the Salisbury Adult Community Mental Health Service is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering recovery-oriented, community-based care across Adelaide's northern suburbs.
Your Role in the Team
Working within the NALHN Mental Health Service at Salisbury, you will provide specialist psychiatric assessment, treatment, and clinical leadership to adults experiencing moderate to severe mental illness. This is a full-time, ongoing position with genuine scope to shape service delivery at a community level.
Provide consultant-level psychiatric assessment and management for community mental health consumers
Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary case reviews, care planning, and clinical governance processes
Offer clinical supervision and mentorship to junior medical officers and allied health staff
Collaborate with acute inpatient, primary care, and community support services to ensure coordinated consumer outcomes
What You Bring
Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), or equivalent specialist registration recognised by AHPRA
Current registration with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner with no conditions that restrict community practice
Demonstrated experience in adult community or outpatient psychiatric settings
Strong understanding of the Mental Health Act 2009 (SA) and its application in a community context
Proven capacity to contribute to multidisciplinary team leadership and clinical supervision
Commitment to recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive psychiatric practice consistent with SA Health's Care, Connect, Recover framework
To be eligible for this position, you must possess
Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent,
Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and
Registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.
The Total Indicative Remuneration figure is calculated taking into account base salary, leave loading and superannuation as well as managerial allowances, professional development or any other allowances where appropriate.

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.

Our Local Health Network Sites and Services:
NALHN provides a range of hospital (inpatient), outpatient, community and home-based services across multiple sites in Adelaide’s north and north-eastern suburbs, including Aboriginal health, mental health, and GP services.
Lyell McEwin Hospital – the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services.
