W Brisbane, located at 81 N Quay, Brisbane City QLD 4000, is hiring a Purchasing Supervisor. As Purchasing Supervisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient procurement, receiving, storage, and inventory management of goods across the hotel. You will work closely with suppliers and internal departments to maintain stock integrity, control costs, and support operational excellence.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will supervise purchasing processes, inventory accuracy, vendor relationships, and receiving operations, while contributing to a culture of teamwork, accountability, and service excellence.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Procurement & Inventory Management
- Coordinate and oversee purchasing, receiving, and inventory control activities.
- Print, organize, and distribute purchasing and inventory documentation.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of invoices, receiving reports, audits, and inventory documentation.
- Verify, track, and reconcile incoming inventory and shipping invoices.
- Monitor inventory and PAR levels to ensure operational requirements are met.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and analyse stock levels to determine purchasing needs.
- Identify and escalate low stock levels to management.
- Calculate inventory figures, order quantities, and associated costs.
- Receive, unload, inspect, and process deliveries in accordance with company standards.
- Reject damaged, incorrect, or non-compliant deliveries and manage supplier return processes.
- Troubleshoot delivery discrepancies and liaise with vendors to resolve issues.
Leadership & Team Support
- Assist with training, coaching, scheduling, and motivating team members.
- Support performance management and uphold workplace standards.
- Act as a role model by demonstrating professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.
- Foster positive working relationships across all hotel departments.
- Assist colleagues and support operational coverage as required.
Compliance & Safety
- Maintain knowledge of all company safety programs and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, handling, storage, and receiving procedures.
- Adhere to Marriott International policies and operational standards.
- Report workplace incidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions promptly.
- Complete all required training and certifications.
What We're Looking For
Experience & Skills
- Previous experience in purchasing, stores, procurement, receiving, or inventory management within hospitality, hotels, food & beverage, or a similar environment.
- Strong understanding of purchasing processes, stock control, and inventory systems.
- Experience supervising or leading team members preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong administrative capabilities.
- Ability to reconcile invoices, inventory reports, and purchasing documentation accurately.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory management systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements
This role requires the ability to:
- Stand, walk, or move throughout the hotel for extended periods.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 20kg
- Work in receiving docks, storerooms, and operational areas.
- Move safely through confined, uneven, or elevated spaces when required.
- Read and verify information accurately across a variety of formats.
