About the Role:
The Senior Mental Health Clinician provides clinical care and coordination within the Youth Mental Health Clinic (YMC), supporting young people aged 12–25 with severe mood disorders, bipolar disorder without psychotic features, and complex co-morbidities such as OCD and severe anxiety disorders, as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering evidence-based interventions.
What You'll Do:
Deliver high-quality, evidence-based mental health care, including assessments, care planning, crisis intervention, risk management, and timely clinical documentation.
Coordinate and oversee key clinical processes, including client allocation, clinical reviews, incident management, supervision, and team operations.
Support young people and their families through person-centred, recovery-focused, trauma-informed, and culturally safe practice.
Manage clinical risk and ensure effective implementation of safety, quality improvement, and incident reporting processes.
Provide clinical leadership, supervision, mentoring, and professional development support to multidisciplinary team members.
Build and maintain strong partnerships with internal teams, community organisations, and external service providers to enhance integrated care outcomes.
About You:
A passionate and skilled mental health professional with experience supporting young people with complex mood and anxiety disorders. You bring a client-centred, evidence-based approach to care, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. You value inclusivity, cultural safety, and continuous learning, and you're committed to delivering responsive, high-quality mental health support. Your strong communication, clinical, and organisational skills enable you to build effective therapeutic relationships and navigate complex care systems with confidence and compassion.
✔️ Eligible disciplines: RPN, Occupational Therapist & Social Worker Grade 4 and Psychologist Grade 3
✔️ Relevant registration and qualifications (see position description for details)
✔️ Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the application of clinical practice in the mental health field and specifically with young people experiencing mental health disorders
✔️ Experience in clinical assessment, risk management, and delivering specialist interventions for complex depression and anxiety
✔️ Experience and/or interest in OCD and/or Bipolar Disorder is highly desired
