We are hiring a twelve-month fixed term Analytical Scientist based in our Braeside Manufacturing Site in Victoria.
Purpose of role:
The purpose of this role is to support the ICP/Mineral Unit within the Quality Control department by ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products in accordance with GMP, GLP, and Blackmores Group quality standards. This includes performing ICP and mineral analyses, maintaining laboratory equipment and calibration programs, investigating out-of-specification (OOS) results, and contributing to the integrity, consistency, and traceability of all quality data generated within the laboratory.
The role plays a critical part in safeguarding product quality and consumer safety by ensuring materials and products meet predefined specifications while supporting continuous improvement, compliance, risk management, change control, and quality system activities.
This role reports to the ICP/Mineral Unit Leader and will be working fully onsite at our Braeside Manufacturing site.
Responsibilities include:
Perform ICP/Mineral Testing: Conduct ICP and mineral analysis of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products accurately and efficiently, ensuring all testing is completed within agreed timelines and with minimal analyst NRFT.
Maintain Quality and Compliance Standards: Ensure all testing activities are performed in accordance with GMP, GLP, EHS requirements, and Blackmores Group Quality Systems, maintaining the highest standards of data integrity and compliance.
Manage Laboratory Equipment and Documentation: Maintain laboratory instruments through routine calibration, verification, and preventative maintenance, and ensure all associated documentation, SOPs, work instructions, methods forms, and validation documents are current and compliant.
Support Investigations and Quality Systems Activities: Participate in investigations relating to OOS results, Operational Events, CAPAs, Customer Complaints, Change Controls, Risk Assessments, and other quality and compliance-related activities, providing technical expertise and support.
Drive Continuous Improvement and Operational Excellence: Identify and implement opportunities to improve laboratory processes, systems, efficiency, and compliance while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the Quality Control function.
Collaborate and Communicate Effectively: Work closely with QC colleagues, Team Leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders to communicate testing progress, technical issues, atypical results, risks, and priorities, ensuring effective team performance and achievement of business objectives.
Who are you?
Degree qualifications in science with a background in analytical chemistry.
Prior work experience of at least two years with demonstrated knowledge in various analytical techniques and instrument troubleshooting with experience in ICP-OES and ICP-MS.
Industry exposure to pharmaceuticals with a focus on health and nutrition products.
Understanding of the Code of GMP / GLP will be an added advantage
Enjoy working in a high pressure and fast paced work environment within the Quality Control Laboratory where the noise level is low to medium and include wearing required PPE and manual handling work.
