Position Overview
Transform Painting Queensland Pty Ltd provides professional painting and finishing services across residential and commercial projects throughout Brisbane, Ipswich and surrounding areas in Queensland. The company's project portfolio includes residential repaints, new builds, insurance-related painting works, commercial properties and interior and exterior painting projects.
The Painter will undertake skilled painting and decorating work across the company's residential and commercial projects. The role is responsible for assessing and preparing different building surfaces, determining appropriate preparation and coating systems, preparing and matching paints, and professionally applying decorative and protective finishes to achieve the high-quality finishes required by the company and its clients.
The Painter will work across new construction, existing properties, renovation and repaint projects and insurance-related rectification works, requiring the ability to adapt painting and surface preparation methods to different substrates, property conditions and project specifications.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
· Inspect and prepare internal and external surfaces across residential and commercial painting projects, including removing old or deteriorated paint, filling holes and cracks, sanding, smoothing and sealing surfaces before painting.
· Set up work areas using ladders, scaffolding, drop sheets, masking and other protective materials to safely access painting areas and protect surrounding surfaces, fixtures and client property.
· Select appropriate primers, paints, varnishes, stains and other protective or decorative coatings according to the surface type, project specifications and required finish.
· Prepare and mix paints and coatings to achieve the required colour, consistency and finish, including colour matching for existing surfaces and repaint projects.
· Apply primers, undercoats, paints, varnishes, stains and protective coatings to walls, ceilings, doors, trims, timberwork and other building surfaces using brushes, rollers and spray equipment.
· Undertake interior and exterior painting of residential and commercial properties, including new painting and repainting works, ensuring finishes meet project specifications and the company's quality standards.
· Prepare and apply durable exterior coating systems to building surfaces to provide appropriate protection against weather exposure and environmental conditions.
· Sand and smooth surfaces between coats where required and inspect completed work for coverage, colour consistency and finish quality, carrying out touch-ups and rectification where necessary.
· Prepare and hang wallpaper or other wall coverings where required, including measuring and cutting materials, matching patterns and trimming edges to achieve a professional finish.
· Interpret project specifications, colour schedules and work instructions and determine the appropriate preparation, materials and application methods required for each painting project.
· Clean and maintain brushes, rollers, spray equipment and other painting tools and maintain clean and safe work areas throughout and following completion of each project.
· Comply with workplace health and safety requirements when handling paints and coatings, operating painting equipment and working from ladders, scaffolding or other access equipment.

Experience
At least 5 years of experience in a similar role is required
Pay: $65,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
