About the Role
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive HR Advisor to support our growing automotive dealership network across Sydney. This is a hands-on generalist role responsible for delivering practical HR advice and partnering with dealership leaders to drive employee engagement, performance, compliance, and workforce capability.
The successful candidate will have previous HR experience within the automotive dealership industry and a strong understanding of dealership operations, including Sales, Service, Parts, Administration, Technicians, Apprentices and Management teams.
Key Responsibilities
HR Business Partnering
- Partner with Site Managers, head of departments s to provide practical HR advice and solutions.
- Support leaders with workforce planning and organisational effectiveness.
- Coach managers on leadership, employee relations and people management.
- Provide guidance on employee engagement and retention initiatives.
Employee Relations
- Provide expert advice on the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards (NES), Modern Awards and employment legislation.
- Manage disciplinary matters, workplace investigations, grievances and employee disputes.
- Support managers with performance management, probation reviews and employment terminations.
- Prepare HR documentation, including warning letters, performance improvement plans and termination correspondence.
- Minimise employment-related risks through compliant HR practices.
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Manage end-to-end recruitment across Sales, Service, Parts, Administration and Management positions.
- Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and attract high-quality
- Coordinate interviews, reference checks and employment offers.
- Manage onboarding and probation processes to ensure a positive employee experience.
HR Compliance & Policy
- Ensure compliance with Australian employment legislation, Fair Work requirements and company policies.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
- Review, implement and communicate HR policies and procedures.
- Support internal HR audits and compliance initiatives.
- Keep up to date with legislative changes and advise leaders accordingly.
HR Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to HR initiatives and projects that improve employee engagement, retention and operational efficiency.
- Support organisational change initiatives where required.
- Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes and improve service delivery.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as an HR Advisor or HR Generalist.
- Previous HR experience within an automotive dealership or automotive retail environment.
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, the Fair Work Act and Modern Awards.
- Demonstrated experience managing employee relations matters and workplace investigations.
- Experience recruiting for operational, technical and leadership positions.
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- Strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of professionalism, integrity and confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR information systems.
Desirable
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or a related discipline.
- Membership or eligibility for membership with the Australian HR Institute (AHRI).
- Experience supporting multi-site dealership operations.
- Exposure to organisational change and business transformation initiatives.
