Retail Manager
IGA West Ipswich is an established supermarket located in West Ipswich, Queensland. We provide a comprehensive range of grocery and supermarket products and services to our local community, including fresh food, deli products, ready meals and other convenience products.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Manager to oversee and manage the day to day operations of our supermarket.
This is a full time position based at our store in West Ipswich, QLD.
About the Role
The Retail Manager will be responsible for organising and controlling the overall operations of the supermarket and ensuring the business operates efficiently, profitably and in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Managing and overseeing the day to day operations of the supermarket
- Determining and monitoring product mix, stock levels and service standards to meet customer demand
- Planning and coordinating the ordering and purchasing of grocery, fresh food and other retail products from suppliers
- Monitoring inventory levels, stock rotation, product availability and minimising stock losses and wastage
- Maintaining accurate records of stock levels, sales and financial transactions
- Assisting with the development and implementation of purchasing, pricing and promotional strategies
- Monitoring sales performance and assisting with budgeting and financial management of the store
- Ensuring products are appropriately priced, displayed and promoted to maximise sales and customer satisfaction
- Developing and implementing marketing and promotional activities in line with business requirements and supplier campaigns
- Managing customer service standards and resolving customer complaints and operational issues
- Recruiting, training, rostering, supervising and managing supermarket staff
- Monitoring employee performance and ensuring staff are appropriately trained to perform their duties
- Coordinating daily staffing requirements to ensure adequate coverage across different areas of the supermarket
- Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, food safety procedures and relevant operational policies
- Ensuring the store is maintained in a clean, safe and professional condition
- Working closely with management, suppliers and staff to ensure the efficient operation and continued growth of the business
Skills and Experience Required
To be considered for this position, applicants should have:
- Relevant qualifications in Retail Management, Business Management or a related field, or substantial relevant experience
- At least two years of relevant experience in retail or supermarket management
- Demonstrated experience managing the operations of a retail or supermarket business
- Experience in stock management, purchasing, inventory control and supplier coordination
- Experience managing staff, including recruitment, rostering, training and performance supervision
- Strong knowledge of retail operations, customer service standards and sales management
- Experience with budgeting, sales reporting and financial record keeping
- Strong organisational, leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced retail environment and manage multiple operational responsibilities

Salary: $80,000 - $85,000 + 12% plus superannuation
Salary will be commensurate with the successful applicant's skills and experience.
