Hello. We're Virgin Australia.
We're the airline that dares to do things a little differently. Bold, down-to-earth and built around giving our guests real choice.
Safety is our backbone, service is our heartbeat, and our people are our superpower. We blend heart and smarts to deliver experiences that feel good, work brilliantly and bring a spark of fun back to flying.
We're vibrant, authentic and unapologetically human. Here, you can bring your whole self, your Virgin Flair and your ambition to a team that champions individuality, innovation and a whole lot of heart. If you're excited by meaningful work, real opportunities to grow, and a culture where you can genuinely make a difference, you'll feel right at home with us.
Based at our South Bank Head Office in Brisbane, this role offers a flexible hybrid working approach. We’re looking for someone who is Brisbane-based and able to work from our HQ as part of the team.
What you'll be doing…
As a Product Manager, you'll be responsible end-to-end for assigned technology products within the Safety & Risk domain, working with business stakeholders to understand their pain points and objectives and shape the product vision, roadmap and priorities to deliver clear customer, operational and business outcomes. You'll work closely with Business Owners, Delivery, Technology, Architecture, Security and support to turn strategy and demand into focused, achievable product plans.
You'll manage a prioritised, refined and testable backlog, making evidence-based trade-offs across value, risk, capacity, cost and timing. You'll make sure problems are well understood before solutions are committed, with clear requirements, acceptance criteria and release scope so Delivery and Technical teams can move with confidence.
Your role will continue beyond release. You'll support the ongoing health and performance of your products, working with technical and operational teams on service performance, incidents, risks, vulnerabilities and technical debt. You'll track adoption and benefits, use data and feedback to adjust priorities, and escalate material risks or service issues with clear options and recommended actions.
You'll bring stakeholders together around product outcomes, decisions and trade-offs, communicate roadmaps and value clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, and manage day-to-day vendor and partner relationships to support effective delivery and service performance.
You'll be great in this role if…
You're an experienced product professional with senior practitioner or lead experience delivering complex product work in a large or complex organisation. You're confident shaping product vision and roadmaps, managing prioritised backlogs and taking products from discovery through delivery, adoption and ongoing lifecycle support.
You'll know how to balance customer and business value with architecture, security, resilience, cost, regulatory obligations and operational impact. You'll use structured analysis, sound judgement and evidence to prioritise competing needs, measure value realisation and change course when risk, capacity or operational readiness shifts.
You'll build strong working relationships across Product, Delivery, Technology and the business, communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders and be comfortable guiding others through complex decisions. A relevant degree or equivalent practical experience will set you up well for success.
It would be a bonus if you have:
- Experience working across Product, Delivery, Technology, Architecture, Security, Data, vendor or business stakeholder groups.
- Certifications or learning in areas such as Agile, product, project, ITIL, architecture, cyber, data, cloud, service management, commercial, risk or leadership.
- Facilitation, mentoring, assurance, tooling, automation, estimation or governance skills.
- Knowledge of aviation operational priorities, customer impact, safety and security obligations, resilience expectations and relevant regulatory, audit, privacy, cyber or technology standards.
- Experience with Safety/ Risk related systems, eg, Safety Management Systems, Document management and authoring solutions, workplace health and safety systems and access management systems.
