Purpose & Focus of Role
- Carry out repairs as instructed by Site support supervisor and leading hand in safe and timely manner.
Areas of Responsibility
- Maintain, test & repair diesel motors and the mechanical parts of earthmoving and rail machines, equipment, and trucks.
- Detecting and diagnosing faults in engines and parts.
- Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other components.
- Repairing and replacing defective parts and reassembling all components.
- Performing scheduled maintenance on all earthmoving machines and trucks.
- Testing and adjusting the machines after repairs to test for correct operation.
- Using computer based diagnostic tools.
- Teach and aid apprentices in repairs and maintenance as required.
- Use Trade Assistants in an efficient manner to complete repairs and maintenance.
- Ensure a safe work environment is always maintained and maintain a strong safety culture in accordance with Finmec HSE policy or clients site safety policy.
Critical Competencies / Skills Required
- Trade Qualification as a Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic or equivalent upskill.
- Manage time effectively, meet personal goals and work effectively with other members of the team.
- Firm understanding of safety in the industry.
- Proactive and highly motivated.
- Ability to pass a mine site induction at any time or appropriate for work requirement i.e., drug and alcohol free and fit for work in all ways.
