Macarthur Girls High School, with an enrolment of approximately 1000 students, is located in Parramatta, the demographic centre of Sydney on the banks of the Parramatta River. Over 90% of our students are from language backgrounds other than English. The school’s purpose is to encourage students to achieve their personal best and beyond, empowering them with the necessary skills to be successful citizens in an everchanging world. A clear focus on evidence-informed pedagogical practice and a strong focus on knowing our students and how they learn underpin strategic directions with an emphasis on customised learning and wellbeing and collaborative teaching and learning to enhance student growth and attainment. in 2027, the school will open a Multicategory Class to provide specialist support to identified students.
The school is seeking a suitably experienced learning and support teacher to oversee and work within the Multicategory Class, leading in the provision of individualised learning programs for identified students.
1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching literacy and numeracy to students with Autism, Mild and Moderate Intellectual Disabilities.
2. Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and monitor personalised learning plans, behaviour support plans and health support plans, including students with complex learning and behaviour needs.
3. Well developed communication, organisational and interpersonal skills to engage proactively and professionally, building relationships with staff, families and external support agencies.
4. Demonstrated ability to design and deliver differentiated, data informed programs that use explicit teaching, evidence informed practices and high expectations to improve student outcomes.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
