About the Opportunity
This is a permanent part-time opportunity working 63 hours/ fortnight and will be based at Newpin North Parramatta
- Available to work Monday – Thursday and alternate Fridays
We’re looking for a compassionate, supportive, and adaptable Play Facilitator to join our Newpin team in North Parramatta.
Working in our therapeutic family playroom, you’ll support parents and children to strenghten attachment, build emotional regulation, and enhance child development through play-based activities. You will create and facilitate meaningful therapeutic play experiences that support families working towards restoration.
In this rewarding role, you will work alongside families to foster positive parent-child interactions, model developmentally appropriate play, and contribute to a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where children and parents can learn and grow together.
Who we are
The Newpin program specialises in supporting parents to work towards having their children safely returned to their care.
About you in the role
- Facilitate therapeutic play sessions for parents and children (0-10 years)
- Support the development of positive parent-child relationships
- Provide strategies to guide children’s behaviour and help with emotional regulation
- Implement trauma-informed practices in a safe and nurturing environment
- Collaborate with the team to create stimulating, educational play programs
About You
- Tertiary qualification (bachelor preferred) in a relevant field with experience working with children (0-10 years)
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and attachment theory
- Experience in developing therapeutic relationships and managing challenging behaviours
- Ability to support parents in developing positive parenting skills
- Demonstrated ability to capture meaningful family observations and translate into clear and concise written documentation

TQ1: Demonstrated experience working therapeutically with children who have experienced trauma and have lived experience of the child protection system, including facilitating therapeutic play and applying a trauma-informed and responsive approach.
TQ2: Demonstrated ability to observe, assess and document children’s behaviours, interactions and responses during therapeutic play, including the ability to capture meaningful observations and provide clear, accurate and objective written documentation.
TQ3: Demonstrated ability to build respectful and collaborative relationships with parents, including the confidence and skills to have sensitive or difficult conversations, provide constructive feedback and advocate for the best interests of the child within a family restoration context.
