Australian Learning and Care (ALC) is looking for a friendly, organised and people-focused individual to join our team as a Learner Support Officer – Trainee.
No previous RTO experience is required. Full training will be provided.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, building relationships and supporting students from diverse backgrounds to stay engaged and progress through their studies.
Speaking another language is highly regarded, particularly Arabic, Farsi/Dari or other community languages.
About the Role
You will visit our employment provider partner sites twice per week, for approximately 4 hours per visit, providing face-to-face support to students completing:
- Certificate III in Business
- Certificate III in Retail
- Certificate III in Individual Support
Your role will include:
- Supporting students with accessing and navigating their online learning
- Checking in with students about their progress
- Helping students stay motivated and engaged with their studies
- Providing basic learner support and referring assessment or training questions to the appropriate trainer/assessor
- Identifying students who may need additional assistance and communicating this to the ALO team
- Supporting students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- Building positive relationships with employment provider staff
- Assisting with student enquiries and general course information
- Creating a welcoming presence at provider sites, including organising coffees/refreshments for provider staff where appropriate
- Providing updates to the ALO team following site visits
- Learning ALO's student management systems, processes and learner support procedures
What We’re Looking For
You do not need previous experience as a Learner Support Officer. We are happy to train the right person.
Ideally, you will be:
- Friendly, approachable and confident speaking with different people
- Patient and supportive with students who may require additional assistance
- Comfortable working with people from a wide range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds
- Reliable and able to work independently
- Organised and comfortable using computers and online systems
- Professional when representing ALO at partner sites
- Confident building relationships with employment provider staff
- Willing to learn about the VET/RTO sector
Language skills are a bonus! If you speak a language other than English, we would love to hear from you. Arabic, Farsi/Dari and other community languages are particularly highly regarded, as many of our learners come from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Hours
Part-time / casual opportunity
Approximately 8 hours of provider-site visits per week, generally across two days, with the potential for additional hours as the role develops.
Travel between provider sites will be required.
