About Us
Yummy Karma is a leading Australian food manufacturer, developing, producing and distributing clean-label, ready-to-eat food solutions across supermarkets, big box retail, airlines, foodservice, private label and export markets. Operating from our modern, SQF and Halal-certified facility in Riverstone, Western Sydney, we bring bold flavours and 100% natural ingredients together, guided by an uncompromising focus on freshness, quality and flavour.
We place a lot of focus on the quality of our products to ensure every product is best in class. We are growing rapidly across every channel we operate in, and we are investing significantly in the people, systems and standards required to support that growth.
The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Quality Assurance Manager to take full ownership of our QA function and lead it end to end. This is a business in growth mode, and we need someone who can genuinely transform our quality standards — not just maintain them — as we raise the bar across every part of the operation.
You'll lead a team of four (3 QA Officers + 1 QA Specialist), report directly to the CEO, and be the driving force behind food safety, compliance, and quality culture across the site — the person who makes sure everything we ship lives up to the promise on the pack.
This is not a role for someone who wants to tick boxes. We need a technically excellent, detail-obsessed operator who will get on the floor, raise the bar, and hold the line on hygiene, compliance, and product integrity — every day, without compromise. If best-in-class is the standard, you're the person who makes sure we get there and stay there.
What You'll Own
- Full end-to-end leadership of the QA function — systems, standards, people, and performance
- SQF, Halal, and export compliance — maintain and continuously strengthen certification standards, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance (DAFF, customer, and third-party audits)
- Quality transformation program — lead a genuine uplift of our quality systems, documentation, and culture as we grow across new channels and customers
- People management — lead, coach, and develop a team of 3 QA Officers and 1 part-time QA Technician; own rostering, performance, and capability building
- Hygiene and cleanliness standards — set and enforce uncompromising standards across the site; be a visible, credible presence on the production floor
- KPI ownership and delivery — full accountability for QA team KPIs, reporting these to a high standard to the CEO and leadership
- Non-conformance and complaint management — lead investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), including customer-facing responses (airline, retail, and institutional channels)
- NPD and product development input — act as the quality voice in new product development, providing technical input and sign-off on food safety and compliance considerations (contributory, not day-to-day operational involvement)
- Audit and inspection readiness — own relationships with certifying bodies and regulators, and ensure the site is always audit-ready
What We're Looking For
- 3–5 years' experience in a QA management role, ideally within food manufacturing, with SQF and Halal certification exposure
- Strong working knowledge of export compliance requirements and experience liaising with regulatory bodies (DAFF or equivalent)
- A genuine track record of transforming or uplifting quality systems — this is a build/improve mandate, not a caretaker role
- Strong people leadership skills — someone who can develop and hold a small team accountable to high standards
- Exceptional attention to detail and a personal, non-negotiable standard for hygiene and cleanliness
- Highly technical grounding in food safety systems (HACCP, GMP, allergen management, micro/chemical/physical hazard control)
- Experience contributing technical/QA input into NPD processes
- Comfortable operating with autonomy and full accountability for outcomes — this role reports directly to the CEO
- Tertiary qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or related field preferred
What You'll Bring to the Table
You're not just a compliance administrator — you're a quality leader who takes genuine pride and ownership in the standard of what leaves the factory. You notice what others miss. You're comfortable holding a hard line on hygiene and standards even when it's inconvenient. You lead from the front, and your team respects you because you know the detail better than anyone. And like us, you believe that if a product isn't the best in its category, it shouldn't leave the building.
What You'll Get
- The opportunity to lead and shape the QA function of a fast-growing, multi-channel food manufacturer — not inherit a fixed system
- Direct access and reporting line to the CEO, with real influence over quality strategy and investment decisions
- A business with genuine scale and ambition across supermarkets, big box retail, airlines, foodservice, private label and export
- Competitive salary, above market, reflecting the seniority and impact of this role
- A close-knit, hands-on leadership team where your work has visible, immediate impact
