The VIMC contract involves the operation, maintenance and performance management of critical Intelligent Transport Systems, traffic signal assets, communications networks, electrical infrastructure and associated roadside technology across live traffic environments.
The maintenance workforce plays a critical role in keeping the road network safe, reliable and operational for the travelling public. Works are performed across metropolitan and regional Victoria and include planned maintenance, fault response, emergency works, inspections, repairs, testing and restoration of traffic signals and ITS assets.
About the role
The Traffic Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating and supporting traffic management requirements across maintenance activities within the ITS contract. Working closely with planners, supervisors, field crews, traffic management providers and external stakeholders, you will ensure works are supported by the appropriate permits, approvals, access arrangements and traffic management solutions. This role is critical to enabling the safe and efficient delivery of maintenance works across Victoria’s live road network.
Role responsibilities

Coordinate traffic management requirements for routine maintenance, inspections, fault response, repairs and minor works activities.

Manage road occupancy permits, lane closure bookings, access approvals and stakeholder notifications.

Prepare and review traffic management plans, permits, risk assessments and related documentation.

Liaise with traffic management providers to ensure resources, plans and equipment are available to support scheduled works.

Support operational teams by identifying access constraints, network restrictions and traffic management requirements.

Coordinate urgent traffic management and access arrangements for emergency and safety-critical works.

Build strong relationships with road authorities, councils, traffic management providers and client representatives to facilitate efficient work delivery.
About you

Experience in traffic planning, traffic management coordination, road occupancy management or infrastructure delivery environments.

Strong understanding of Victorian traffic management requirements, permit systems and road occupancy processes.

Experience working within live road, freeway, arterial road or municipal road environments.

Proven ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders, approvals and competing priorities in a fast-paced operational setting.

Strong organisational and communication skills with excellent attention to detail.

Ability to respond to urgent operational requirements and adapt to changing priorities.

Relevant qualifications in Traffic Management, Civil Construction, Road Safety, Project Coordination or a related discipline are desirable.
