Be the hands-on builder who turns product vision into working software, fast.
About Us
Erin Living Technologies is a fast-growing tech company working to improve liveability for people everywhere. Our resident management platform is built for modern communities, bringing seamless solutions and next-level convenience to the table. Together, we're all about teamwork, big ideas, and giving everyone the very best experience of the place where they live.!
Headquartered in Melbourne but with a team across multiple parts of the globe, we're shaking up the property game with our snazzy enterprise-level PropTech solution! Our resident-first mobile app is designed to be a daily feature of life in a community, while the complementary Manager app is used by building operators to handle back-of-house. We integrate with a wide variety of management software platforms, hardware, and in-building tech to round out the ultimate experience.
So, let's team up, have some fun, and make magic happen!
About the Role
Ready to step into a role where you get to build the product, not just talk about it? We’re all-in on an AI-first approach where Product team members can build directly; not just prototype and mockup. Features are built from solid engineering components, and when ready, they move into engineering review, QA, and release.
As a Software Product Engineer, you're the hands-on technical force supporting that build.
If you're excited by the idea of turning fast-moving product ideas into solid, review-ready software, and you'd rather find the problem now than have QA find it later, this is your chance to shine.
Key Responsibilities
Requirements & Specification
- Clearly articulate value, outcomes, functionality and behaviour
- Prepare PRDs (Product Requirement Documents) — before, after, or in parallel with prototyping
- Carefully consider flows, edge cases and scenarios so build and QA have full context
Hands-on Build
- Prototype, develop and iterate on features within our product-led engineering approach, working to direction from the product and engineering leads
- Get features working end-to-end, handing them to the development team production-ready
- Investigate and resolve issues in prototyped features — in code, not in theory
- Provide technical support to the team's AI-assisted building, picking up the more technical pieces and flagging issues to the leads
Supporting Processes for Scalable Product Engineering
- Identify opportunities for structure, conventions and guardrails that let non-technical team members build with AI in a consistent, reviewable, scalable way
- Keep guardrails current as the product and tooling evolve, and flag where they're being outgrown
Product Quality
- Work closely with QA to proactively identify and resolve issues at the prototype stage, updating PRDs where needed
- Surface edge cases, error states and failure modes — the ones that don't appear in a quick demo
- Identify ways technology can boost manual QA coverage on every release
About You
You're the kind of person who loves getting stuck into a well-considered build — curious, hands-on, and always looking one step ahead for what could go wrong. You bring energy and focus to every feature, whether it's a clean build or a gnarly edge case. You love nutting through scenarios, you thrive on turning a rough prototype into something solid, and you get a buzz out of writing the test that catches the bug before production does.
Comfortable without a fixed process, you take direction well and adapt quickly as priorities shift week to week. Collaboration is your comfort zone — you're just as happy pairing with the product and engineering leads as you are picking up a feature and running with it solo.
You'll Bring
- Hands-on coding ability — comfortable building and modifying features in code, with working knowledge of a general-purpose language, version control, and how a web application fits together
- A sharp quality and edge-case instinct — you naturally look for the unhappy path and the failure modes that love to surface in production
- Comfort with shifting priorities — happy to take direction on what matters this week, and to change focus as the team's needs move
- The ability to work well with non-technical colleagues — picking up the technical pieces, and explaining what's going on without making anyone feel silly for asking
- Data literacy — comfortable enough with Python or SQL to answer a question with numbers rather than a hunch
Bonus Points For
- Familiarity with automated testing tools and approaches (such as Selenium or Postman)
- Experience in a SaaS or B2B product environment
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines or DevOps tooling
- A background spanning both development and QA
- Experience in fast-moving or prototype-first teams, where requirements arrive alongside the work rather than before it
Your Success Will Be Measured By
- Features shipped end-to-end, production-ready and review-ready
- Automated test coverage that keeps quality measurable as the product grows
- Edge cases and failure modes caught early — before QA or production find them
- Guardrails and conventions that keep AI-assisted building consistent and scalable
- Behavioural data and experiments that inform what gets built next
