Doncaster East | Practice Leadership | Future Equity Opportunity
Ready to take the next step from tax expertise into client and practice leadership?
Accata is a rapidly growing accounting, tax and advisory firm based in Doncaster East. We advise more than 700 client family groups and are currently growing at over 30% per annum.
We're looking for an experienced tax professional to join us as Associate Tax Director – Private Clients.
This is a senior, client-facing role for someone with strong Australian tax expertise who wants greater responsibility, closer client relationships and the opportunity to become an important part of a growing practice.
For the right person, there is a genuine pathway to Tax Director and future equity or partnership.
The Role
Working closely with the principals and our accounting team, you'll take a leading role in managing Accata's tax compliance and lodgement program while developing strong relationships with our clients.
You'll be a senior point of contact for business owners, investors and family groups, while also becoming a trusted technical resource for our accounting team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and monitoring the firm's tax lodgement program
- Developing strong relationships with clients and becoming a trusted tax adviser
- Reviewing tax returns and financial statements and overseeing quality
- Providing practical tax advice and identifying planning opportunities
- Advising on CGT, Division 7A, trusts, business structures and private group taxation
- Managing ATO correspondence and more complex tax matters
- Supporting the accounting team with technical tax and client matters
- Reviewing work and mentoring team members
- Helping improve workflow, systems and the overall client experience
Our client base includes companies, trusts, partnerships, individuals, SMSFs and a broad range of private business and investment structures.
About You
You'll have strong Australian tax knowledge and substantial experience within professional practice.
You may currently be working within a Big Four, mid-tier or larger accounting firm and be ready for a role where you can have greater influence, greater client exposure and a genuine opportunity to help shape the future of a practice.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- Strong Australian income tax knowledge and practical experience
- Experience managing and advising private clients
- Confidence dealing with companies, trusts and complex family groups
- Strong tax return and financial statement review skills
- Experience with CGT, Division 7A, trusts and business structures
- The ability to manage competing deadlines and a substantial lodgement program
- The confidence to support and mentor other accountants
- Excellent client communication skills
- A practical and commercial approach to taxation
- CA or CPA qualification, or equivalent experience
Above all, we're looking for someone who is technically strong, approachable and takes ownership.
Why Accata?
At Accata, you'll be closer to the clients, closer to the team and closer to the decisions.
You'll work directly with business owners and family groups, become a senior technical resource for our accountants and play an important role in the continued development of the practice.
With 700+ client family groups and growth exceeding 30% per annum, we're looking for someone who wants to grow with us rather than simply fill a position.
And if you live in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, our Doncaster East location offers the opportunity to build a serious professional career without the daily CBD commute.
If you're an experienced tax professional looking for greater client exposure, leadership responsibility and the opportunity to help shape a growing practice, we'd like to hear from you.
