Molendinar, QLD | Yard-Based Role | Heavy Fabrication | Mining Industry
Cable Handling Services (CHS), part of the ACE Group, provides specialised cable handling solutions and equipment to the Australian mining industry.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Franna Operator to join our team at our Molendinar facility on the Gold Coast, QLD.
This is a permanent, yard-based position working onsite at our CHS Molendinar facility.
Working within our busy workshop and yard environment, you will be responsible for the safe operation of our Franna crane, assisting with the lifting, movement and positioning of heavy fabricated components and mining equipment.
This is an onsite, yard-based role, working closely with our workshop and production teams to ensure lifting activities are completed safely and efficiently.
When crane operations are not required, you will also be willing to assist the wider workshop team with general duties as required.
- Safely operate a Franna/pick-and-carry crane within the CHS workshop and yard.
- Lift, move and position heavy fabricated components and mining equipment onsite.
- Conduct pre-start inspections and report equipment faults or maintenance requirements.
- Interpret load charts and ensure loads remain within safe operating limits.
- Assess lifting requirements and ensure loads are correctly secured prior to movement.
- Work closely with supervisors, leading hands and workshop personnel to coordinate lifting activities.
- Maintain safe exclusion zones during crane operations.
- Comply with all CHS/ACE safety procedures, SWMS and site requirements.
- Assist with general workshop and yard duties when crane operations are not required.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Current High Risk Work Licence – CN (Non-Slewing Mobile Crane).
- Previous experience operating a Franna or similar pick-and-carry crane.
- Experience within mining, heavy fabrication, manufacturing or a similar industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of safe lifting practices and load limitations.
- Dogging and/or Rigging High Risk Work Licence – highly regarded.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- A reliable, hands-on attitude and willingness to assist across the workshop and yard when required.
- Stable, full-time employment.
