Who we are
The NSW Early Learning Commission (Commission), established as the independent regulator for early childhood education and care (ECEC) in New South Wales on 1 December 2025, is responsible for regulating more than 6,000 ECEC services across the state.
Our role is to ensure services meet high standards of safety, quality, and compliance through ongoing assessment, monitoring and enforcement.
The Commission places children at the centre of all decision-making, working to ensure they are safe, respected, and supported to thrive in high-quality early learning environments that promote their development, wellbeing, and lifelong learning. It also drives continuous improvement across the sector through evidence-informed regulation and reform to strengthen community confidence in ECEC services.

About the role
As a Review Officer, you will conduct independent assessments of regulatory decisions to determine whether they are lawful, fair, evidence-based and consistent with relevant legislation and policy. You will analyse a high-volume of complex and sensitive information, apply sound judgement to make informed decisions, and deliver clear and defensible review outcome.

About you
You bring proven regulatory and administrative decision-making experience, with a pragmatic approach and a strong commitment to procedural fairness.
To be successful in this role:
- You apply sound judgement and evidence-based reasoning to deliver fair, consistent, well-reasoned and defensible outcomes
- You demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to review and interpret complex or sensitive information from multiple sources
- You are a strong communicator both verbally and in writing, and can articulate complex information clearly and concisely
- You have experience managing multiple cases and competing priorities in a high-volume and fast-paced environment
- You have the ability to quickly understand and use available technology to maximise efficiencies and effectiveness
Essential requirements of the role
- Tertiary qualification and/or equivalent work experience in law, public administration, policy, social work, psychology, regulation, or another relevant discipline.
- Current and valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance for paid employment.
- Demonstrated understanding of and committed to the value of early childhood education and care.
