We are a new specialist medical practice looking for an experienced medical receptionist to join our team.
This is an opportunity to be involved at an early stage to help build a practice that delivers excellent patient care and a positive experience for both patients and staff.
You'll be working closely with two medical specialists and a small, friendly team. We're looking for someone who is confident in managing the day-to-day administration of a specialist practice, enjoys working with patients, and can work independently.
A part-time or full-time permanent position is available.
About the Role
The role will include:
- Managing patient appointments and scheduling
- Answering phones and responding to email enquiries
- Greeting and assisting patients with warmth and professionalism
- Opening and closing the practice
- Billing patients and processing payments
- Processing Medicare and health fund claims
- Managing referrals and correspondence
- Maintaining accurate patient records
- Liaising with referrers and other healthcare providers
- General administrative and reception duties
- Supporting the implementation and refinement of practice systems and workflows
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- Preferably, at least 2 years' experience in a medical reception role
- Experience working in an Australian medical practice, with an understanding of the Medicare Benefits Schedule and private health fund claiming
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Confidence using practice management and electronic medical record systems
- A professional, reliable and patient-focused approach
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work efficiently
- A willingness to learn, take initiative, and contribute to a growing practice
- Current working rights within Australia
- Current or willing to obtain: National Police Check, Working With Children Check
Previous experience working in ophthalmology would be highly regarded but is not essential.
